The tablet is made by a company called Maylong. So who is Maylong? I did a Google and found a web site for the company. The tablet comes with a one year warranty. There are also phone numbers for an RMA return as well as locations where the tablet can be purchased. I contacted their sales department via email and asked to receive a test model of the device. I will let you know the results of my request.

If anyone has purchased the Maylong tablet, share your thoughts and experience with us.

Another question is what version of Android it runs and will it upgrade?

Sounds great, but there are two things I’d question:
    1. They don’t state battery life, but I’d guess 8 hours. Good for a tablet, bad for an eBook reader (where my interest lies).
    2. Looks like the battery is not user changeable. That is a deal killer for me.

Hope they send you one. I’d be interested in a review, especially the above 2 items. And one more: What formats does it accept for eBooks? ePub, Mobi, PDF, etc.

Maylong also makes handheld GPS devices. I bought one from Walgreens (was supposed to be free shipping, but after a running battle with them, I finally gave up on a refund) and it works fine, as least as good as a Garmin 350, but a little bit slower. I would be interested in buying, but not unless I can get it in my hands on it first.

I really want an iPad, but it’s so expensive for me.

Yes, I think it would be nice to find a similar tablet device, only with a cheaper price. But I always wonder if that device would equal the iPad in appeal and performance.

I’m not always able to get to a store and try something. In fact, I’ve never tried any computer before I bought it. The nearest Apple store is 50 miles away, and I have no car.

I’ll wait this one out, and eventually buy an iPad at Walmart. At least I can get there easily.

I bought one the day after you published. I can’t say anything about the unit as it has yet to appear. Walgreens takes 7 business days to process the order! Add to that 3-7 shipping days. What a way to run a drugstore.

Imagine what would have happened to Amazon if they had this type of service.

Ask me if I’ll ever buy anything online at Walgreens again.

      Hi Chris,
Would you let us know how you like or dislike the device.
      It would be appreciated.
      Regards, Ron

And by the way, the price had gone to $130 by the time I read your piece on it.

umm, Dennis F It clearly shows not everything is free shipping eligible on walgreens.com. And as far as not being able to buy this in the store…, um,,,,, then don’t buy it. problem solved.
