Quake Live Beta – The Fun Returns Online – And It Is Free To Play!
Having played every version of Quake, since Quake was in knickers, I almost forgot how much fun it was to zap the bad guys. So when I found that iD was offering Quake Live online in Beta, I jumped at the chance to play one of my old favorites once again. The action is fast paced just like the original game was. It took a few minutes to refresh my memory as to which weapons and health benefits one needed to survive, but once I did that, the action started fast and furious.
But first, here is what you will need to play Quake Online:
QUAKE LIVE is a new and innovative multiplayer game experience from id Software – the creators of DOOM and QUAKE – that offers game players of all skill levels a totally free and easily accessible multiplayer game and community through a single website. Every element of the QUAKE LIVE experience, from finding and playing games to post match stats review and social networking are delivered through a single state-of-the-art website.

I would recommend that you have at a minimum a cable or DSL internet connect to prevent lag and to make you play enjoyable. I would also recommend that you try a few practice matches against bots before taking on real players. I actually enjoyed playing against the bots which was fun in itself.
Comments welcome.
