FTC Is Misguided Says Intel
- Surprise! FTC Says Intel Has Used Anticompetitive Tactics That Have Stifled Innovation and Harmed Consumers

- Maybe AMD Knew Something That Intel Didn’t
Intel has responded to the lawsuit being filed by the FTC stating it was misguided and not based on existing law. The attorney for Intel also stated that these types of lawsuits cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Intel made these harsh statements after the FTC stated that Intel used unfair business practices to prevent companies like AMD from competing.
“Intel has engaged in a deliberate campaign to hamstring competitive threats to its monopoly,” said Richard Feinstein, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, in a statement.
“It’s been running roughshod over the principles of fair play and the laws protecting competition on the merits. The Commission’s action today seeks to remedy the damage that Intel has done to competition, innovation, and, ultimately, the American consumer,” said Feinstein.
The FTC claimed Intel bullied computer manufacturers, including IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Dell, into using its chips in their systems instead of offerings from rivals such as Advanced Micro Devices. It also claimed Intel used a tactic known as restrictive dealing to prevent system builders from marketing non-Intel machines.
The FTC’s complaint further alleges that Intel redesigned its compiler software in a way that hampered the performance of competitors’ microchips. The Commission said Intel’s behavior violated Section 5 of the FTC Act, which prohibits unfair methods of competition.
Maybe I am missing something. Isn’t this the same company that the European Union just took to task and fined Intel some $1.45 Billion big ones? Isn’t this the same company that is being sued by the State of New York?
If the government needs to spend a few million to get back a billion, this seems like good business to me. LOL

INVENTORS – DO NOT TRUST INTEL
I invented a CPU cooler – 3 times better than best – better than water. Intel have major CPU cooling problems – “Intel’s microprocessors were generating so much heat that they were melting” iht.com) – try to
talk to them – they send my communications to my
competitor & will not talk to me.
