Do You Own A Nissan With A CVT Transmission? Read This

This morning I received a two part notice from Nissan concerning its CVT transmission for my 2009 Nissan Rogue. For my vehicle there is a software update to correct a vibration in the transmission during low speeds. Also included was a warranty extension notice. On the Nissan website Nissan states the following information:

Nissan has extended the Nissan New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to 10 years/120,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for CVT transmission repairs, replacement, and related towing on all 2003-2010 model year Nissan vehicles equipped with the CVT. The remainder of the powertrain warranty coverage for components other than the CVT transmission remains unchanged. All other warranty terms, limitations and conditions otherwise apply.

Please note that this is not a safety recall, and there are no safety issues relating to your Continuously Variable Transmission.

I called my Nissan dealer and already have an appointment on Monday AM to get the vehicle software updated. Hopefully this will correct this minor annoyance.

According to the Nissan website these are the vehicles involved:

2003-2010 Murano; 2007-2010 Versa SL, Sentra, Altima and Maxima; 2008-2010 Rogue; 2009-2010 cube®.

If you haven’t received a notice from Nissan concerning the warranty extension you may wish to check out the website below to see if your vehicle is involved.

    ‘tranny’ is an offensive term used to describe a transgender or transsexual individual. the word you’re looking for is ‘transmission’.

    Hello Jessica,
    I have not heard the word ‘tranny’ used in that context. In checking in the dictionary ‘tranny’ also refers to a transmission. But I wouldn’t want to offend anyone so I’ll make the change.

    Jessica: You need to grow up a bit and not look at things in a sexual/gender way. In the car world, tranny means transmission, period. There are no other meanings for it when you’re speaking about a vehicle. Obviously, this article is mainly and solely about cars. Think outside your IQ limitations. Thank you.
