What You Need To Know To Get Your Blog Site Noticed And To Make Money

It is ironic that I stumbled upon this article about blogging since this past weekend these questions were being asked of me. It is interesting to see the look on people’s faces when you state that you are a blogger. For those that are not Internet savvy, you get a blank stare with a ‘that’s nice’ statement. Others who are familiar with blogging are more enthusiastic and will ask how they can get started blogging. I always find myself thinking, ‘how does one get started blogging?’

My personal blogging journey has been different from what most people may experience. I was fortunate to be invited by Chris to blog here at Lockergnome which was already an established blogging site. But during the past three years I have learned a lot and hopefully I am providing some useful information to those who choose to read my stuff.

Here is a book that you may wish to purchase from Amazon that should help you in your blogging adventures. I ordered the book and will be doing a review once I complete reading it. Here is a partial interview of the author and his book about blogging:

There are many people out there with unique knowledge, opinions and expertise who could benefit others by sharing what they know. However, until blogging came along, unless that person wrote for a newspaper or magazine, for example, it was very difficult for them to communicate openly with the masses. Blogging has changed all that.

This is the statement from the author that one should take to heart:

What is the biggest mistake people who want to monetize their blogs make?

Blogging is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes months or even years of hard work to develop a blog that’s capable of generating a significant income. Just publishing a blog doesn’t mean people will read it. The biggest mistake people make is investing a lot of time and money to create and publish an amazing blog, but then they do absolutely nothing whatsoever to promote it or to build a following.

Blogging is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Don’t fall for those ads on the Internet that promise instant riches for those who blog.

Comments welcome.

I agree entirely! The best part about developing a blog for profit or not, is that every time you post, you are practicing and mastering your craft. Blogs are small voices in a very large room. Finding your niche and audience can take some time. Great post!

Hmm, I’d say this falls under the “Things you always wondered about, but were afraid to ask” heading. I eagerly await you review of the book. Thanks Ron.

    Vincenzo – thank you.

Buffet – it may be after the holidays before I post a review.
