I honestly hope on a level this product fails.
I can not stand google’s monopoly over the web.
This product will fail as web apps are nearly useless.
Current netbooks are fast enough and overall the common user should stick with it, this product will not be a pleasant experience for them if they have to be online to type a simple document. Google believes that the web is the way to go, it is not . There are things you can’t do over the internet without INSTALLED programs to provide these features. This takes most of the functionality out of the OS

I already do 99% of my work through the Internet and my web browser (Chrome). Why? Because I’m not tied down to a single computer or OS. You ask, “Is Google reinventing the Netbook?” No, Google is reinventing the way we do work on the computer and the end result will be the Chrome OS. Just so happens I’ve been using this “cloud” concept for a couple of years.

Let me be clear, this is not going to change over night. However, I do believe that the old desktop OS as we know it to day will simply vanish in the “cloud”.

An interesting concept Ron. Pc manufacturers might do well to heed these specs, as it makes sense, BUT it might also set a precedent by having a software company dictate how a manufacturer does things, or does it? Hmmm, yeah, there’s this company in Redwood that’s been more or less doing it for years! LOL
