Washington AG Rob McKenna is attempting to curtail some of the more blatant scams: http://www.atg.wa.gov/pressrelease.aspx?&id=24778

His proposed legislation has some problematic provisions that could limit legitimate marketing but there is a decent chance that a bill will pass the WA state legislature next session.

I think I got one of these offers after booking a trip at Travelocity. I looked at the offer but decided not to sign up–it did seem kind of fishy.

Maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t take it!
