I'm still unsure what the big gripes against Vista were about? MS didn't want to support uncertified drivers and old software- I'm ok with that. I've used it for quite a while and never had any trouble. It's been run on 3 machines- not one has had major issues and only a handful of hiccups- nothing earth-shattering.

Ditto viri issues. I run AVG free & do a spyscan every so often using free, online scanners. Again, no probs. I won't move to 7 until there's a good reason. I run XP on VMWare (for a couple of old programs) and it's fast as fast.

I've also had a chance to spend more time with Linux. Lots of open-source software & some great OS's out there.

Apple is $$$$ hardware & pricey software (when you can find it- not in most shops). I've had Macs, in the past- but I guess I just never "warmed" to them. I love to tinker- hence PC's come first, for me.

I think that the main reason for this is that most geeks seem to like apples as well as most professionals that are more geeky. The reason for this is that for why I do not know, non-geeks seem to immediately write macs off as junk and that you can do nothing with them. Which is far from true and almost completely wrong. Also I think that Linux has a few things to work on as far as being non-geek friendly, but LinuxMint and Ubuntu seem to be working on it and doing a very good job at it. Just a little while and a few more moves away from CLI dependency and we will be on the way to a Linux nation.

I was once an avid PC fanboy. Until Vista.

Then I scrammed to find an alternative - I tried Ubuntu and loved it but it quickly became obsolete for me. I decided to go all out and cross the line and try a Mac. an iMac G3 600mhz. It was the bomb! I have since given it to my aunt and it replaced her aging PC. I can't believe such an old computer can still run decent!

To replace the G3, I got an eMac G4 and an iMac G4. The eMac is unfortunately still my main computer, though I am trying to sell it and the iMac. The iMac G4 was just too slow for me and it has always sat on the other desk and not been used much. After I got my brand new Mac Mini, I realized that I had too many computers of my own and I am now selling all but the original PC and the mini. I really wish I didn't have to say goodbye to my eMac... it is a powerhouse, runs way better than the mini, has more hard drive space, and is just so cute! (In a technology way lol)

One main reason I am getting rid of the eMac is that I am deathly afraid of CRT monitors. Why? An old 1997 PC's CRT sorta imploded about three yards from this very spot. Thank God there was a huge leather chair inbetween me and it! Glass went everywhere, it was mega scary.

So all in all, I've tried the three most popular options. I've settled with my views that no particular option is perfect - I find myself using my Macs and my PC equally throughout the day. Add it to my iPod Touch and I've got quite the collection!

If you really think you need a Mac but don't have much money to throw out, get a high-end G3 or a *DECENT* G4 (At LEAST 1GHz, my eMac is 1.25GHz with 1GB RAM and runs so perfectly!) until you have the money for a full-fledged-brand-new Mac.

Of course, you can buy mine :)
I've got the iMac and eMac's details on a video on YouTube, just go to http://www.gavinroskamp.com/g4sale

I was a PC user but i bought one macbook pro 3 months ago and im really happy with it!
I changed to Mac cause Apple produces great software for photos, creating webpages, editing videos and to create music. And i also changed cause my PC was giving me big headaches with the viruses and the crashes, i couldn't work for 2 hours without any problem!

Good point. The average computer user doesn't even know what Linux is and most have never heard of it.
