AmazonBasics 4.7GB 16x DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle) Reviewed

Back on September 20, 2009, I wrote a piece about the new Amazon house brand called AmazonBasic. [See here] I had mentioned that I had ordered Amazon’s 100 pack of DVDs and would report back on what I thought about these disks. Since I ordered the disks I noticed on the Amazon site that the disks now cost $20.79 for a 100 pack, which is still a deal, IMHO.

Since I received the DVDs I have used seven for image backups and other projects. All have performed flawlessly. I therefore give these DVD discs a two thumbs up and highly recommend them.

Comments welcome.

What is the manufacturer code on those discs? I looked over at digitalFAQ.com, but couldn’t find anything about the discs. They are probably too new to show up.

BTW, what brand and model writer did you use & did you do a compare?

I have found that the latest Samsung drives have great physical qualities (quiet, smooth, no odd noises) but are not as disc tolerant as my Lite-On drives. What kind of drive are you using?

    Thanks.

    Hi Marc,
The drive is a TSSTcorp that came with my Toshiba laptop.

    The disks are 6P161.

And yes, I did a compare.
