Turn Off Blinking Text In Firefox

I thought sites that used blinking text were all gone, but every once in a while I stumble upon a site that still uses blinking text. I don’t know about you, but I dislike blinking text and did a Google to find out how to stop it. I found this gem over at How-To-Geek showed how you can turn off blinking text in Firefox. I gave it a try using Firefox 3.5 and it worked fine.

Give this a try and see what you think:

Open up Firefox and enter about:config into the address bar then hit enter.

If you get the void warranty message just click on “I’ll be careful, I promise!” and uncheck the box next to “Show this warning next time” if you don’t want to see it again.

Now in the Filter box type in or just copy and paste the text below. You will notice the value is set to true. Double click on it to toggle the value to false.

browser.blink_allowed

Double click on it to toggle the value to false.

That’s it. No more blinking text and no more annoyance.

Comments welcome.
