PerfectDisk 10 Professional Certified For Windows 7

A few weeks ago I received an informational email that PerfectDisk 10 Professional had been certified by Microsoft as compatible with Windows 7. Having the RTM version of Windows 7 Ultimate on my test box, along with Windows XP Mode installed as well, I contacted Raxco, the software company that produces PerfectDisk 10 Professional.  The company was gracious and provided me with a full version to test on my Windows 7 machine.

Raxco describes PerfectDisk 10 Professional as:

Prior to installing PerfectDisk 10 Professional I timed the time it took to boot into Windows 7. Boot time was 1 minute and 14 seconds. When I was using Windows Vista Ultimate with SP2, boot time on the same system was 2 minutes and 22 seconds. Yes, Windows 7 has been vastly improved over its predecessor.

The installation of PerfectDisk 10 Professional went without incident and after a reboot I took the software for a spin. The software is intuitive and easy to use. I used what is called Smart Placement which Raxco describes as being:

‘Quicker computer boots’ is always something we all would like. But with Windows 7, which already boots quickly, would defraging make a difference? After running SMARTPlacement I did a reboot and the system booted up to Windows 7 in 59 seconds. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. But where I really noticed improved performance is when it came to opening up Office 2010 Technical Preview programs. All of the programs I tried seemed to be more responsive when opening.

Next I went over to Windows XP Mode and tested Office 2003 with SP3. Again the programs appeared to open more quickly after using PerfectDisk 10 Professional.
