Who Is Winning The Browser Wars? We Are!

The browser wars are of no concern to me since I couldn’t care less how much market share any of them command. What is important is that this newest browser war is going to benefit all of us. This new crop of browsers are faster and hopefully more secure.
During the past week I have been using the newest version of the Opera browser and took it for a spin. Whoah there, Nelly! This is another speed burner that is worth taking a look at. I like the default color scheme and how the tabs function. Adding widgets is a breeze and my overall experience was 100% positive.
But I have to admit my experiences, minus Internet Explorer (which I won’t even consider using), have been more positive than negative. During the past few months I have tried Chrome, Safari, Opera, and the latest Firefox, all of which have provided increased browsing performance and an overall enjoyable experience. It seems that each of the respective browser companies are trying to copy each other and have entered into a speed contest.
More speed when surfing the Internet is great for us consumers and I believe more changes are coming our way.
Comments welcome.

Really?
Firefox is virus prone (the flood of users has made it the new target, not IE), Safari crashes too much, Opera has a horrible interface, and Chrome has no plugin support.
IE8 is the only one I have not had trouble with. This is the Windows 7 version of IE8, so it is an improved version, but even my XP machine running runs that smoother than Firefox.

Hello Denny,
I am sincerely pleased that you use IE 8 and are happy with it.
But may I suggest you try some of the alternative browsers to see what you think.

Curiously enough, we were touching this very same topic in my computer class a few days ago. The fact that Microsoft was responsible, although not in its entirety, of making Netscape go out of business is sad. And now Firefox, like a risen phoenix, comes back to bite them in the rear end is funny, the way I see it.
But I digress. With that said, I love how Firefox made my browsing experience more simpler (at the time I discovered it), faster and more customizable. There’s probably not a browser that will defeat Firefox’s customizability as far as I’m concerned. I’d do try to keep up with the latest in the software scene - I’m trying Google Chrome and it’s good.
But I love my fire fox.

Opera 10 rocks much faster & now seems to work with all the sites. I love the drag tab bar feature to see enlarged thumbnails of all the tabs.
I find it’s the easiest browser to customize i don’t need an address bar any more you can just hit F2 and a field pops up to type the URL into. The menu bar can be be shrunk into a button on the left of the tab bar.
The main bar can be vertical on the right & you can select just the buttons you want and you drag tabs onto it no more wasted space.
The synchronize feature works great then theres Opera turbo
opera mail notes etc. and it’s packed into a 6.6 Mb download .
For comparison Firefox is a 7.6 Mb download I’ve no idea how large it would be once you add all the plug-ins needed to match the features Opera has .

Well, I’ve stuck with Firefox for awhile now. The only other browser I’ve used lately is Safari on a Mac running OSX, and I don’t like that browser much (OSX itself is OK).
Incidentally the recently released Firefox 3.5.3 seems to be very fast and stable compared to older 3.x releases. No freezes…
