Like Justin, I'm stuck in the sticks (can't see any towns though) with satellite. 17 gig download per rolling 30 days. It's Internet by latency and time-outs for 80 bucks a month for "up to 1.5" mps, throttled https, and oneous contract that says "we don't have to provide a service but you still have to pay." Cable and DSL stop about 1 mile to the north of us and about 1.5 miles to the south of us. When we call to beg for either one we get the 'ol: "Yeah, yeah, yeah - tell it to the hand."

We could go with Sprint or Verizon EV-DO, but the look I got from the wife when I told her the download limits were 5 gigs a month for 60 bucks, was so withering that I pretty well shook that option off the table.

Maybe all this stimulus money will finally get us some real wired broadband, or maybe it'll get the CEO of Cincinnati Bell a really special bonus for Christmas. Time will tell, but we ain't holdin' our breath in the meantime.

Bring DSL to my area. I hate it I have to use satellite internet for my internet. It is dog slow when downloading my favorite podcasts. I am looking into Cricket broadband now in our area to test it out.

I am 3 miles outside of the city limits, I can see the city from my house, but I guess dsl can't see me.

I have had slow internet since I went online back in 1998 or 1999 when my family purchased a Windows 98 computer.

I want fast internet so I can enjoy watching Chris, and buffering.

Sorry Comcast and AT&T, overselling your existing bandwidth and charging higher prices don't count as "upgrading" and "expanding access".

Busted?
