Ron, I’d be very skeptical about buying any electronic device that’s been “refurbished”. Price aside, I’d want to know why it was returned! The circuitry in modern electronics are made by robots, as no human could work with them. If a refurbished device was returned as a result of it failing, then it’s gonna fail again … period! Just one small micro crack in the pc board spells disaster. If the selling dealer isn’t willing to provide a history of the phone, then walk away.

    Hello Don,
Good point. I would suspect these devices didn’t fail, but were returned by the users for several reasons. The iPhone is a wonderful device but some people may struggle getting it to function properly because of their own inabilities. Then their is cost. Not for the phone, but for the plan and the Apple extras.

What they do in the case of a faulty main board is throw the entire board away and put a new one in.

The re-used part is just the case and touchscreen.

The refurbished phones still require a 2 year contract with AT&T, but you only get a 90 day warranty on the product, rather then the 1 year that Apple offers on a new iPhone. To me, not worth the $50 savings. I would rather have the piece of mind of having a new phone with the full warranty!
