On the other hand, Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint Shop Pro cost hundreds of dollars and use spyware to enforce their "copy protection" (Corel software adds a system service that communicates with them and their "partner" to do the activation crap) More and more Windows software is resorting to using spyware and DRM rootkits, it's getting to the point that even though there's lots of software for Windows that has capabilities beyond the free software, you can't even install the payware (even if you bought a proper license for it) without dozens of new system services and "drivers" all trying to usurp control over the operating system to enforce Corel, Adobe, and EA Games DRM. It's really no wonder software sales are going down when paying customers get treated to this. On one hand, GIMP has an entirely different interface and different features.
