Windows 7 Is On The Way But How Much Will It Cost Us?

The word is out. Windows 7 will be hitting the stores on October 22, 2009. I personally believe that Windows 7 will be a worthwhile upgrade for Vista users who may be dissatisfied with Vista. Though this is all nice and I am sure Windows 7 will be popular, why are we not hearing about pricing?
It is estimated that about 60% of Window users are still hanging on to XP. So what will it take to get these people to buy the upgrade to Windows 7? What will it take for YOU to upgrade to Windows 7?
What about us Vista users? Should we get special pricing? I believe we should.
Will having the ability to run Windows XP virtually on Windows 7 make you switch?
I know some of you have already expressed your opinion that you will not make the switch. But will Windows 7 make such a difference performance wise that you might be tempted to switch?

I’ve had Vista pre-installed on two new computers. Vista has worked just fine for me.
Of course I bought a Macintosh at the same time I bought my first Vista computer!
I’ve seen nothing majorly wrong with Vista… It’s still Windows, with all of Windows’ Strengths and Faults.
I loaded Windows 7 onto an old throw-away computer. It works just fine.
I will not upgrade any of my Vista computers to Windows 7.
If I build a new PC, I may buy Windows 7 if the price is right.

I’m an XP user. When the Windows 7 beta was released, I installed it on a backup machine. It had a few problems running on that particular machine, so it went back to XP. When the RC was released I installed that on the same machine, and it runs great(after a few hiccups getting my network card’ s driver installed) Then I installed it(the RC)on my main machine as a dual boot alongside XP. Lately, I rarely boot into XP and I’m having good luck with Windows 7, with almost everything I throw at it. I’m hoping by the time the RTM ver. is ready, the problems with the few apps that don’ t run(or don’t run well) will have been taken care of.

I am using Windows-7 now and there is no reason not to, it’s obviously the best version of the operating system yet. I heard a rumor that it might be free to try for a year, this would be a smart move because if you try it you’ll be sold on it within less than a week. I was informed that the beta will shut itself off every 2 hours starting next month, so those who have the release candidate don’t have much time left. Bye Win-7 see you on the store shelf or as an upgrade package for vista

@zubetacom Windows 7 RC will work normally until March 2010 and then will go into a mode that shuts off every 2 hours and will stop working entirely in June I believe.

I will be making the move over to Windows 7. I have been using the beta version for a while now and I will be moving over to the release client soon as well. (The beta expires soon) I’m really looking forward to the official release because I have been a XP user for the longest time. I have tried Vista and hated it. There were too many bugs and problems with it. Although, once I started using Windows 7, I noticed a significant upgrade. It was enough to convince me to move over to a new OS. However, I still want to own an iMac and run OS X.

I liked the trial version of W7 but do you seriously think that it will be less than $100? Do Microsoft know how to do low prices?
I doubt it - XP users will have to ask if there machine is even up for it and may even have to shell out more cash than Vista upgraders have to.
I can’t help but notice that OS X users will get Snow Leopard for just $29. Made even worse by the fact that there OS already works perfectly.
Annoying isn’t it
