I think it would be nice if your blog actually displayed links to things you are writing about, like a link tho the Windows 7 site, rather than misleading links about air conditioners and such. When you get this sorted out, let me know, and I’ll come back to read your blog. Thanks,
Fred

Fred,
Do you see the ‘Talking About Windows Site Here’ ? That is the link. Click on it. Hope that helps.

I call Windows 7 “Vista SE”:

So far I see:

The same ho-hum performance as Vista.

IE 8 has been backported, I have it but I use Opera so I don’t care.

Windows Media Player 12 will be backported, but Windows Media Player 12 has some weird new DRM that blocks the user from using FLAC or Vorbis codecs, so I will likely skip that.

DirectX 11 will be backported, apparently MS has learned their lessons with their asinine/arbitrary refusal to support DX 10 on XP in a bid to get more upgraders (which didn’t help and only made DX 9 the least common denominator).

UAC is a little less chatty and annoying, but I turned off the warnings (but not UAC) off, so I could still use registry virtualization and so IE is still sandboxed when I have to open it.

The UI has been given some minor unimportant tweaking that I don’t care about.

It supports $600+ touchscreens that I won’t ever buy.

According to most MS technical documents, Windows Vista with SP2 and a few other upgrades should be compatible with Windows 7.

Windows 7 appears to be an unimportant release that I have no reason at all to buy, and especially not for hundreds of dollars.

Wake me up when they improve performance or add something I care about.

What Do You Think?
