VMware ESX server is a customized version of Red Hat linux. At work, all of our netbooks run linux. Our Google appliance runs linux. The SNAP server runs linux. Tons of embedded devices run linux. A number of MIS desktops and a few production machines run linux. Our syslog server is linux. The next Palm phone will run linux. It's coming to get you. There is no stopping it (like Vista, except it works). You can't hide from linux - it knows where you live. It also has your social security number so you better be polite to it. Steve Ballmer has night sweats and recurring dreams about being chased by Linus Torvalds. Oddly enough, he lets Linus catch him every other time. Don’t forget virtualization.
