Netbook vs Laptop - Differences Becoming Blurred

As newer netbook systems are being introduced, the differnces between what we call a Netbook vs Laptop computers continue to get blurred. Asus is introducing a new Eee PCHE netbook with a 10″ screen. Other manufactures have previously introduced laptops with 10″ screens. So what is the difference?
According to this article it states that:
ASUS have announced their latest netbook, the Eee PC 1000HE complete with Intel’s Atom N280 processor. As well as the 1.66GHz CPU and HD-capable Intel GD40 chipset, the 1000HE has a 10-inch LED-backlit display, 160GB hard-drive and WiFi b/g/n. ASUS are suggesting up to 9.5hrs of runtime from the high-density battery and the company’s own Super Hybrid Engine technology.
It appears that the newest netbooks with the Intel Atom processor appear to have better battery life. But outside of this, the lines between netbooks and laptops are getting closer to being the same. Once netbooks with bigger screens are later introduced, these differences will be even more blurred.
Comments welcome.

10 inches isn’t too bad, the big idea is a focus toward minimal application. You won’t see a dual core and a 320 gig hard drive in those any time soon, and the Atom was only designed to take so much, which Intel is fighting right now with the manufacturers.
I would venture as far as to say that netbooks will push Digital distribution a lot harder, coupled with the MacBook Air. This will also stress the big companies to extend the battery life of current notebooks, but it still seems there is a very clear cut line between laptop and netbook at the power factor.

The original point of netbooks has been lost. As the name “netbook” implies, this was supposed to be a simple, inexpensive machine for those who primarily wanted to surf the Internet. Now the netbook has morphed into just a smaller version of a regular notebook. I write about this change at my blog http://tips.vlaurie.com/2009/01/28/the-n…)
