Circuit City Liquidation - Deal Or No Deal?

We are all aware that Circuit City failed to find a buyer and is now closing down for good. We are also aware that the company is having a liquidation sale of approximately $2 Billion in electronic products. Depending on who you listen to, there are many differences of opinion about how good or bad the sale pricing actually is.

I personally have not been to the close out event and wanted to ask this question.

If you have attended a closing at one of your local Circuit City stores, what is your opinion as to the discounts being offered? Deal or no deal?

Please comment.

We Got a . Web-Cam . and a 2-Gig card fur da Camera
It didn’t mater if we got a Good Deal or Not . Had to use-um
Everthing was . 10% + Off in Da Store we went too……..
AND get ready for a Long Wait in DA Check-Out-Line

The CC store in Metairie, LA is already locked up, but previous visits did NOT prove to be very exciting. The 10% PLUS advertising really meant “10% off anything worthwhile and 20 - 25% off stuff we couldn’t sell in the first place. Thumbs down on this “close out sale” . Much better deals on a lot of the same stuff at Walmart.

most liquidators don’t decrease prices at the start. the prices will drop as the final days approach, but most of the merchandise will be gone. Think of it like nuclear auctions, the price starts normal, and drops till it sells.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I may take a ride over to my local CC for a look-see.

The headlines said UP TO 30% OFF!! Very true, 30% off cables of various types, everything else 10% off. Since CC in this area has always been a little on the high side, the savings was nothing to get excited about.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the information. This is what I am hearing as well.

I work nights so I have been able to go everyday. The 10% is on just about everything worth having. They do have all cd’s dvd’s at 20%, but the games have went from 20% a day ago to 10% today “the deal actually got worse in one day” and the tv’s where on sale the fist day so the 10% did not apply, but after seeing the 10% price I wish I had baught them on sale I would have saved $450 on the tv I want. So far I would say it is a rip off and the Christmas sales where better. I hope that they drop the prices before they close the doors there are quite a few things I will buy if they ever becomes a decent deal. GREENWOOD, INDIANA.

Take a look at this page for an explanation of what you might expect:

It is a rip off. Don’t waste your time. We have 9 in our city and all of the prices actually raised. Also, the employees are incredibly rude and unhelpful. (Obviously they are soon to be unemployed)…… Also, don’t trust the signs.. My family tried to purchase 3 different items at 3 different circuit cities…. all rang up for twice what the price tag said and we were told the same thing in each situation….. “It’s whatever it rings up for, not what’s on the tag” ridiculous.

What Do You Think?
