After the first of the year, I took pictures of everything in our home from furniture to underware and store the pictures on a thumb drive. I do this for insurance purposes and store the drive in my safety deposit box. This is the first year that I used a Vista box to transfer the files from my camera to the USB drive. Even with SP1 installed and all current patches and fixes in place, I noticed that the process seemed slow to me.

I decided to give TeraCopy a try and see if there was any difference in copy files over to the thumb drive. The photo’s I was moving were 166 pictures in .jpg format. By using TeraCopy it appeared to me that the transfer was completed in about 1/2 of the time it took for the normal Vista copy command. On the TeraCopy site it states that:
