Windows 7 Background – Did You Get It?

Posted by on Jan 15, 2009 | 4 Comments

When I first booted up Windows 7 and saw the default background, I immediately recognized the fish on the screen as a Siamese [aka Japanese, Oriental] fighting fish. These little guys are also known as betta fish. Get it. Beta. :-)

Didn’t that make your day!

Comments welcome.

PS I know some others are making much more to this by explaining the exact breed of fish, but I believe in the KISS method.

The problem with this shows the lack of intellect of the Microsoft developers, as the fish are only called ‘bay-ta’ by the ignorant. To those who can read a dictionary, or know about fish, it is a betta (bet-uh).

    see http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/betta

    I can’t believe I didn’t see that!
Now that I think about it, it’s so obvious.

    Ha that’s funny :)

Who knew Microsoft would be smart enough to put a betta fish in their beta? lol… Plus who cares how it’s pronounced, it’s one letter away from beta. It is kinda ugly in my opinion however :D I have mine set to auto change every minute between all the “Vistas” and it looks awesome lol
