Mother’s Cookies Are No More!

I know the major news agencies enjoy covering the banking crisis, the collapse of Wall Street, the problems that plague the auto industry, and Circuit City closing stores, but no one covered Mother’s Cookies going under. Mother’s Cookies has been around since 1916 and had been a stable for kids of all ages when it came to a cookie snack.

I recall as a kid when a treat was having animal cookies with the pink and white frosting. My kids grew up on these cookies as well. One of my other favorites was the frosted Mother’s iced raisin cookies.

As of October 6, 2008, the company closed their doors after being in business for some 92 years of baking one of America’s favorite cookies. Why wasn’t part of the bailout given to these folks instead of some fat cats on Wall Street?

At least they produced a product that America enjoyed. :-)

Comments welcome.

Probably not part of a bailout because 1) their managment team did not get excessive bonuses to use for polictical donations and 2) their management team was too honest.

This study claimed to have gotten its data by asking guests to participate in an IQ test, and pairing the results with the browser used to access said test. That element, alone, should have been a clue that the results were phony. The sad fact is that many who are very intelligent and highly educated work in office environments where, for one reason or another, they are restricted to using only Internet Explorer. Assuming that these individuals would have been represented in the study–and there was no indication that they weren’t–an average IQ of 80 would have been preposterous.

I’d really like to see someone actually perform this study, as the logistics behind it seem sound. I don’t know what I’d expect, but I’d bet money that it would look a lot different from the fake results.

Poor logic. Browser choices may not be important as long as one uses something that is standard compliant. If someone does not see the difference between IE and Chrome/FF/Opera, they are either are impaired in a way.

I have to use Safari, Chromium, Firefox, IE, and Opera to test my sites. So far my favorites have been Firefox, Chromium, and Opera.
