Windows 7 – The Excitement Builds!

Windows 7 has already started to generate some excitement in the blogging community, in that some portions of the operating system are being leaked. Normally these leaks can be attributed to Microsoft who wants to start to generate some interest as a release date approaches.

At this point we have two release dates. One is today, October 27, 2008 when a pre-beta release is due for developers and a select group of testers. I’ll be getting a copy for download sometime this evening after the developers conference finishes. The next date could come as early as December, 2008 for the first beta.

Here is what Windows 7 could show us. The below ribbon bar is part of the latest Office release.

Outside of this tid-bit of information, everything else being posted is guess work. It might be even safe to say that the ribbon theory could also be guess work. :-)

Are you getting excited about the release of Windows 7 ?

Comments welcome.

…from the people who brought you Vista…I can’t wait!?!

I experience more excitement watching raindrops evaporate! However good it may be it will inevitably be priced $stupid which will mean that the UK version will be £very-stupid and beyond the means of mere ‘users’ such as myself. Microsoft could easily afford to market this at an economical price (probably even free) but they won’t so what’s to get excited about? I’ll still be using my no doubt no longer supported OEM XP. It works and it won’t cost me a penny!

I can’t say I’m all excited but that’s probably because I’m one of those few mythical people who doesn’t have any problems with Vista (64) and hence, according to Mac and Linux user, I don’t exist (because everything done by Micro$uck doesn’t work and is lame because Linux taps into the power of the open source community and blah, blah, blah…).
Anyway, Windows 7 is just a pumped up Vista and since Vista is working fine for me, I couldn’t care less.
I’ll only get excited if they release a version of windows that gives a 100% boost in gaming performance.

Give me a brake! I still can’t believe that a business like Microsoft is so rife with ineptitude. Dilbert personified. Why can’t they make a simpler machine that doesn’t take a seasoned IT Tech to to repair and keep running at top efficiency? And more patching than my leakiest boat.

I’m not as excited with the newer Windows due to the fact it will need to mature first before I jump the bandwagon. With each OS that comes out from Microsoft there will be bugs and security issues that will need to be address.

There are so many dissenters just because Windows has such a hold on the world’s computers.

I admire Microsoft because they keep on trying.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Windows 7 OS!

“I admire Microsoft because they keep on trying.”

Indeed.

And how very, very trying.

I dread the day my XP machine dies and I will be forced to make the transition to Vista or the new thing. I’m even considering buying a good second hand XP machine to extend my life as an XP user. That’s how excited I am about Microsoft forcefeeding us a new OS every three years or so. BTW, three quarters of my website visitors are still using XP!

I’ll let you know what I think. I’m downloading a copy of the Pre-beta release as I type this. I’m hoping to get it loaded onto my test computer this afternoon. :-)

Of course you’re kidding, AREN’T U????? I’ve already heard that Windows 7 is being referred to as “Vista Version 2″. Does anyone remember Windows 98 ME????? While Windows XP does leave something to be desired, it works well in most environments, but Vista is something else. OK, I was excited………UNTIL I heard that Windows 7 was really Vista Version 2. Somehow, I’m not holding my breath. Anyone know when Windows 8 will be released?
