Windows Vista SP2 Planned Before Windows 7 Release

Rumors are flying as to what Windows 7 will be. According to Steve Ballmer, Windows 7 will be more that just an upgrade to Vista. He is lamenting that Windows 7 will be a totally new operating system. But Mr. Ballmer has a bit of politician in himself and it may be hard to believe what he says. After all. This is the same man who want to convince us that Vista is a success.

I just thought of something. If Vista is such a huge hit as Microsoft wants us to believe than why have the Mojave commercials? Why spend $300 million This is an obervation only and not to start an argument about Vista vs XP.

According to Mary Jo Foley over at ZD Net, her sources indicate that Microsoft is planning to release SP2 for Vista before Windows 7 hits the street. She states that:

I’m hearing that Microsoft already has delivered a beta of at least Vista SP2 to select hardware and software partners, the same way that it has been providing a hand-chosen few with early builds of Windows 7.

That should be good news for those who use Vista. As I have previously written, I just bought a new laptop that came with Vista Home Premium edition installed. I’m giving the new operating system a 30 trial to see how well I like it and how well it performs for me. Thus far I am enjoying the new system and have no complaints. I am one of the fortunate ones that has gotten the software I usually use to work properly.

Comments welcome as always.

Until they decide to update the kernel, and rebuild the OS from the ground up its still windows NT 4 with fancy options and higher requirements.

They need to actually take a deep breath, and plunge into a new OS, but they are scared of what that will mean. the Registry combined with the SYSTEM user are killing windows, and giving companies like Symantec and Kaspersky a money train. Time for a real update – but I don’t think windows 7 is it.

I too agree with Jeff, if microsoft wants to create an entirely new OS, I believe they must completly rebuild Windows, and not use Windows NT.

Vista has become more of a success as later updates came in, I know very few people who tend to have any problems with Vista. Also, for gamers who were experiencing frame-rate drops in vista, has been compromised.

If microsoft does plan to create a new OS, and not use Windows NT… I don’t believe it would come out in beta until next year.

Though, I personally would be fairly excited to see a new OS in progress… I don’t believe it will be happening in the proper way.

This isn’t working for me. Now I just look silly to the person whose update I commented on.

I personally don’t like this. I think it will just clutter the view up even more.
