Obsession – Did You Get The DVD?

This past Sunday there was an extra bonus in our local newspaper. It was a DVD titled ‘Obsession’, which touted itself as being a video of radical Islam and radical Muslims. At first I thought this might be just an ad for a upcoming movie or something similar, but I later learned that this program had been previously released in 2005. Strange. Strange because of the timing and the previous allegations that Obama is a Muslim.

I popped in the DVD and it basically didn’t show us anything that we didn’t know. Terrorists are at work around the world and are bent on destroying Christian civilization. Pictures of suicide bombers and children being indoctrinated by radicals were shown during the viewing. It appeared that the purpose of the DVD was to scare the hell out of us, by depicting Muslims as terrorists.

Depending on who you read, it seems that some 28 million of these DVD’s were distributed throughout the US in local rags.

So what was the real purpose of the DVD being placed into our newspapers?  Could it be that it just coincided with the 7th anniversary of 9-11? Or was it an attack on Obama, masked as a informative DVD?

    I have no doubt that it was meant to be a scare tactic. I find it ironic that the email about Barack Obama being Muslim started circulating again. Republicans will stop at nothing to win or steal this election. I just pray that Americans are not going to fall for this kind of fear mongering anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if we started seeing the terror alert broadcast on tv, again! Beware people! You should be very afraid! Not of the “terrorists” but of the NeoCons!

    Of course this is another right-wing piece of propaganda. After doing just a few minutes of searching the internet for some further information, one of the sites I landed on was a pro-Israel site http://store.silaspartners.com/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FOI&Product_Code=V61D

    It is too easy to vilify an entire group for the sins of a few of its members. If one only looked at a few radical Christians’ actions, one would come to a similar conclusion about the Christian faith, (the crusades, the inquisition, the holocaust, the KKK). It is natural to be suspicious of those who look different, whose language is not like ours (even looks drastically different), and whose religious convictions are vastly greater than those of even the most fundamental Christians.
    Will this thinly veiled attempt to sway voters based on fear work for the neo-cons? I hope not. From what I have read online in response to the DVD, most see right through the smokescreen. I hope that with the availability of information, that people will make up their minds on this election based on real issues, not fabricated fears.

    I hope that people see through these lies. Unfortunately some people really believe that Obama is actually a Muslim.
