Super Apple Quarter – 3 Million Computer Units To Be Sold?
It doesn’t appear that Apple has anything to fear about future Seinfeld ads. The little engine that could seems to be heading for another record quarter. Some sources are predicting that Apple could have a whopping 3 million units sold in this next quarter. They are citing Apple’s back to school specials as one of the reasons sales will rise. But lets face it folks. Apple is on a roll and they can thank Microsoft for the sales surge.
In a report to clients, analyst Mike Abramsky cited proprietary data from his firm’s recent IQ/ChangeWave Panel which “suggests that massive back-to-school Mac sales” could see the Cupertino-based company report year-over-year growth of 44 percent to 3.04 million units for the three month period ending September.
Let us take a look at some facts that no one can really deny. It basically started with Microsoft Windows Vista. The make believe operating system that came up as a wannabee compared to the Apple offering. Yeah it was pretty but it did not like to play with others. You know those others like, hardware, software and much of the peripherals consumers already owned.
Apple came up with some clever commercials poking fun at Vista. Most of us kind of shrugged off the commercials but some took what was being said seriously. The Vista myth of being a bad operating system took on a life of its own. Microsoft countered with a bunch of fixes rolled into SP1, but after a year and one half, the myth had settled into stone. Even the Mojave project was not convincing, and even Microsoft’s buddy Intel, said no to Vista.
So as Microsoft suffered with trying to give Vista an upbeat tale of success, Apple just started to slowly take off. Sales continued to climb and each quarter got better and better.
I do have one observation. Just think if Apple ever allowed clones to be built.
