If you want to do a real free virus scan on your Windows PC try TrendMicro.com Yes, they sell scanning software, but if you look under Free Tools->Housecall, you will find their free scanner. When I still used Windows, I used it. It is good software. I haven’t used it in quite a long time, but they used to have both a Java scanner and a downloadable scanner.

In addition to all the other advice above, consider using WebMail to read your email. The easiest way to do that is to simply get a My.Yahoo.com account and point the mail to your email account. Behind the scenes, yahoo will scan all your incoming email and outgoing files using Norton AV.

Fortunately, I finally took the step to Linux, so I don’t need this stuff anymore, except for when I’m running Windows in a virtualbox.

If you must check your registry daily or weekly like a addict, which usually isn’t needed, stick to the authentic writers of these programs. Peter Norton wrote the software back in the 80′s and still has that corner marketed.

No, Norton AV is only pale for those who waste their money on this program as their program doesn’t care for the peasants, unless they go corporate and spend lots of money.

But there are legit companies out there that charge a few bucks more, do the real job, answer the phone, and fix the problem using custom cleaners.

Cyberdefender is no better than kindergarten children with a dart board.

Thank for your advise. My computer is new but its V V V V V Very slow. Takes 15 minutes to open. After I used registry clean up it got more slow. After cleening they say its till have 4 problem and asked $29 more. Thinking its a scam I thought to go for finallyfast,com but I stopped after reading your page. Thanks for saving me from another scam

Hi everyone.O.K first of all finally fast doesnt work well.it does but not really i’ve tried it myself.If your computer is slow just google ways to fix it yourself because you’ll find sites and blogs about free software and tips at the same time you’ll learn about computers and will be able to fix your computer without spending money in scams or bad choices.Now i trust sites like cnet.com or brothersoft.com but make sure to find information about the software you are going to download and use before you use them.heres a list of some of the software i use

2-AVG Free 9.0
3-SpyBot Search&Destroy
4-Eusong Free Registry Cleaner
5-Rising PC Doctor
