FinallyFast.com – Does It Work?

Last evening I was watching the History Channel and a advertisement came on for a web site called FinallyFast.com. It claimed to be a all in one, PC fix, for any slow computer system.  So this morning I went to the site to take a look at what FinallyFast had to offer.

I was stopped dead in my tracks when McAfee SiteAdvisor came up with this message:

finallyfast.com

Red Verdict Image

When we tested this site we found links to ascentive.com, which we found to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.

In addition WOT – Web Of Trust also blocked the site with a not trustworthy message as well. Because of this I did not download any of the software that was on the site.

So my question to you is this. Has anyone tried the FinallyFast software? What is your opinion?

Comments welcome.

I tested their software in a sandbox environment, and found they install files into your windows folder (and sub-folders, as well). If you want to see what they install, visit my site. I don’t like reposting my site (errr..wifes site), when all you gotta do is click on a link.

thanks for the info. i was about to download the free scan and i am very glad I did not.

well im looking into it and i figure it this way i have many memories and things that i already love about my PC and i dont really want to lose any thing that i may love so im not really guna try to use something like this because i dont really know what it is and their are so many other things that are on your computer that could bug it and also if it free theirs always a reason knowing that nothing in life is truly free

I HAVE FOUND THAT ANY TIME THERE IS SOMETHING ADVERTIZED FOR FREE,YOU ONLY GET A BITE OF THE PIE.
AND THAT’S NOT USUALLY BIG ENOUGH TO TELL WHAT
FLAVOR IT IS.BESIDES THAT,MY COMPUTER IS BRAND NEW.IF I’M GOING TO DOWN LOAD SOMETHING TO SPEED IT UP,IT’S NOT COMING FROM THE HISTORY CHANNEL.
BECAUSE THE DOWNLOAD AND MY COMPUTER WILL BE
HISTORY SOON.NOTHING AGAINST THE HISTORY CHANNEL,I PROMISE.

i saw the commercial and honestly thought it was completely BS.
1. you could clearly see a mac getting the blue screen (ookay that can’t happen)
2. they showed mac computers then went as a disclaimer “only for PC users”
3. during the so called “speed test” they even said “simulation”
4. honestly if you have all the spyware and whatnot on your computer, why not use ad-aware or search and destroy?
5. no ram cost a thousand bucks.
6.if your computer is that bad, why not just reformat?

What amazes me is not how these unscrupulous vultures make the amount of money that they do, but how many computer illiterate people without a clue exist out there. Someone needs to shut these guys down!

Thanks for all of the comments. I appreciate everyone of you for taking the time to stop by and for sharing your thoughts.

What amazes me is not the unscrupulous practices of these vultures, nor the amount of money that they can generate, but the amount of computer illiterate people without a clue that exist out there. Someone needs to put companies of this nature out of business!

There is a host of reasons as to why a computer can slow down and you can’t do a one-size-fits-all type of a fix on a system. The system registry is only one aspect of what needs to be maintained.

For starters, here is a small list of free software and steps to take to speed things up a bit, and they really do something…

1) CCleaner – Removes junk and temporary files
2) Spybot S&D – Removes malware entries from registry
3) Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware – Same as above
4) Eusing Free Registry Cleaner – Removes more issues
5) NTRegOpt – Registry Compactor
6) O&O Defrag 2000 Freeware – Defragments Hard Drive
7) Comodo Firewall – Firewall Protection
8) Avast! Anti-virus – What it sounds like
9) Boot Vis – Optimizes start-up time

This is by no means a complete list. Even if you download a trial version of a good package, such as one to remove unused DLLs, you can use it for 30 days for free, so you are still ahead of the game!

You should also take these steps:

1) Join a forum and ask lots of questions.
2) Understand and optimize windows services.
3) Visit tweaktown.com and tweakxp.com
4) Educate yourself!

Stop falling for garbage such as finallyfast.com, spend some time learning about maintaining your PC before you break out your wallet. There is a slew of free information and free professional software out there and all you need to do is have some fun educating yourself. It will empower you and save you money!

Peace,

Paul

At least it gives you a reg scan and tells you what the probs are and where so you can remove them yourself with regedit in your windows directory.
Lots of companies are selling that.
Just the fact that “legitimate” companies can operate software that can generate these problems seems like an operable problem to me.
It seem using a windows operating system is like walking around with your fly down and your pants on backwards.

FinallyFast does one thing real fast – load up your PC with malware. 15 instances by last count. I’ve used 1 uninstaller (Revo) 1 antivirus (AVG) 2 registry cleaners and still found traces with regedit. The worst infection machine I’ve seen. On top of that, it didn’t find a damn thing that was impairing the performance of my notebook. By the time software uses TV infomercials, its gotta be BAD. Stay away!

Hi Scot,
Thanks for the info.

I got taken for $47.85 when I thought I was spending $29. It sucks you in. I must contact my creditr card company

Thanks Frank for sharing your experience with FF. It is appreciated.

Does anyone know anything about softward offered by registryfix.com? Is it any good or does it have the problems caused by FinallyFast?

Hello Tim,

Suggestion.

Give CCleaner a try. Its free.

http://www.ccleaner.com/

Thanks, Ron, I will do that. Appreciate your input.

No argument with the posts here. In fact, I’ve yet to read one that was IN FAVOR of this idiot program. To begin with there are already a dozen very legit, tried and tested programs on the market and none of them claims to do what FraudFast say it’ll do. Basic maintenance will take care of 80% of the problems they’re claiming to fix — clean and defrag the disc, dump all the temp internet and set-up files — and all versions of Windows come with both defrag and clean disk right there under ‘System Tools.”

Beyond that, the commercial itself was a clue, right up there with the Amazing Miracle Slicer and the Ronco Pocket Fisherman. Repeat the name and number over and over, have joyous chripy actors pretend their entire lives have been made 100% better by this hokey doodad. No, no thanks, not on your life.

I’m not surprised to hear it loads boxes (computers) with adware, either. I have two free adware./spyware removers (AdAware & Spybot) that do a fine job, but I’d rather not pay $99.95 to keep them busy.

Instead of going straight to finallyfast.com I ran a search. What did I find?
Ans., a lot of negative feedback.

gratefully, dave

This scam of a site is just like trying to convince someone they can download RAM and speed up their PC that way. You cannot stumble onto a site like FinallyFast, and have your PC speed up.

I’ve seen this commercial many times, and it was very easy to see the lies.

There is many things you can do to speed your PC up like:

1. Defragment
2. Reformat
3. Buy more RAM or a better processor
4. AdWare programs (Avast!, AVG, SpyBot.)
5. CCleaner

I tried the suggestions from Paul in the e-mail of October 08 to download the “free” cleanup software, rtaher than buiy finallyfast.com.
I downloaded malware bytes and registrycleaner and I visited the sites of the others Paul listed.
While the dowloading of the software is free, their usage is not.
Malware is $79.95 and registrycleaner $39.95.
The rub is they indicate the software if free but once yopu have spent time dowloading the software they then tell you about the charge to use the software.
I’m glad I’m a computer illiterate but I understand the scam it appears all software providers run.

“There is a slew of free information and free professional software out there and all you need to do is have some fun educating yourself. It will empower you and save you money!”

How do we uneducated people know which of that “slew of free information and free professional software” is telling us the truth? Which of you “professionals” should we believe – you’re all gonna say “believe me” just like the scam artists do!

MalwareBytes does have a freeware version. It is well worth the download, esp if you run into a malware program called AntiSpyware 2009.

I have used CCleaner now for over 3 years and it is in my trusty repair software folder on my thumb drive. So is Glary, which is also freeware.

I also use Spybot S&D and a few other programs out there to disinfect computers.

I have seen this commercial so many times and it is embarrassing. Never ever download anything like this to your computer- the guy is playing river raid for crying out loud! If you try using linux though, you will not be having any of these issues at all. I am using linux mint right now, just installed a few hours ago, and everything was ready to go right after install, no more fussing with the innards of your machine just to get on the net. No viruses, spyware, etc., all software is free, computer runs much faster, and on and on. Lots of community support available on the net and elsewhere, it is definitely worth a try. Once you are over the hump of using something else that is not windows, you realize how much better it is.

Thanks again for all of the excellent advice. It is appreciated.

Best Regards, Ron

The way to stop companies like this one: lawsuits. That’s the only language they understand. So, instead of us talking, let’s take action with a class action.

i sent this letter to ascentive here it is

saw your commercial  finallyfast.com and tried the free scan if i remember correctly it said i had 68 errors when i knew my pc was clean 3 weeks later i scanned my pc again and it said i still hadl 68 errors i installed software on 2 other pcs and they also had 68 errors.this is a phony free scan to make people think they have errors they don’t really have to convince them to buy your software.there is no way that multiple pcs will have they same exact errors and weeks later have the same errors.i went online and there isn’t one positive thing said about finallyfast.com.there must be about 200 give or take bad reviews about your company.Mcafee virus and spyware compant has sitemaster.com and they are steering everyone away saying you are very bad. They are a very well respected corporation.I called your customer service and they hung up on me.i’m going to do everything in my power to stop thing through a advocate bureaus unless you get back to me by phone.i will also contact all affiliates of your company with this letter so it would be in your best interest to call me

Hi to all, I have not used finallyfast and like stated before this website has been marked not good by site advisor. Below are the tools I find to help your computer run fast and keep it protected. I have to say that with using the tools below I have not had any issues with in the past 2 years.

Browser = Firefox

Toolbox = 1) Jv16 powertool for the registry

2) Online Armor for the firewall

3) Antivir PE Classic for the virus protection

4) Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Malwarebytes, Super antispyware, and Spywareblaster for malware and spyware protection.

5) Winpatrol to protect your host files / other

6) Ccleaner, and Advanced System Care for general cleaning / other

7) SmartDefrag for keeping your hard drive in order

8) McAfee Site Advisor for the detection of good websites

Special tool = HijackThis – Use this tool only if you know how and are qualified to, there are many free websites with qualified people that will help for free. Once the tool is downloaded you can go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ to get help, this is an excelent site and they help many people get there computers fixed

The product’s real name is finallyfxxked.com

Thanks Ron for starting this blog. To a novice PC user like me It has been very helpful and has probably saved me a great big headache. I recently downloaded something to my desktop and now I can’t boot it up, even with the help of McAfee technical support. Luckily I have a laptop which I now use exclusively (until I can afford to get my desktop to a PC technician). That experience taught me a valuable lesson—that is to be suspicious of anything “free”. and to never download anything unless I check it out. Which is what lead me to your blog. Because you have taken your valuable time to help others by sharing your experiences and to create this dialogue which will invariably save a lot of us from the internet vampires. Thanks again.

Hello Suspicious Mom,
You are most welcome. Thank you for stopping by.
Regards, Ron

well i agree with all the things you guys are saying my filter UNTANGLE told me it was blocked for adware and judging by what you guys have said i would believe that.

I tried running it, upon installation I recieved a warning from AVG about their dll file and became even more skeptical. I’m on a crappy system that’s ready to be wiped, and figured I could stand to try it. Nothing important. The alert popped up, and so I did what I should’ve done… I researched some things, leading me to your post. I can’t believe what I’ve seen. They have advertised awards of all kinds, and have a M$ Certified logo on their webpage, that just shows you what kind of bullcrap M$ supports.

Thanks for the comments. Ron

I think the commercial is hilarious, to be honest with you. I don’t know how anyone could fall for it. In the commercial they say something along the lines of, “your computer may be slow for no reason…” and then they proceed to say, “we’ll find and diagnose the problem!” um what? how can you find and fix a problem that you say supposedly doesn’t exist?

Hi Bevin,
Good point. :-)
Thanks for stopping by, Ron

what a laod of rubbish………. finallygot yourmoney more like or maybe finallyfooledyou.com

OK…let’s take Paul’s comment a little further (Paul – October 8th, 2008 – at 12:43pm)…

I blogged on my site about this…a couple of times. Now I’m getting emails and PHONE CALLS from people demanding that I return their money and get the software off their computers!

I actually added “I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH FINALLYFAST.COM OR ASCENTIVE” to my site, but it seems people just can’t read!

OK…sorry…a little frustrated.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for the info. I can understand your frustration. :-(
Regards, Ron

Man, am I glad that I do research on half the things I see online or on TV. If I didn’t do any research on finallyfast.com then I would’ve been suckered in and bought the thing :(

Thankfully I do research…

-Jess

I just love the fact the commercial says “PC Computers Only” but the person using it is clearly on a Mac.

Pfft.

By the way, that damned weight-loss ad is also a bit of a scam.

I think that I’m a really lucky guy to have found this blog before finding finallyfast.com! Thank you, all.

It is so easy to prey on the gullible and ignorant……like myself.

I was going to give the finally fast thing a go but fortunately googled the title rather than going straight to the site. Thus I found you.

I am a total embryo when it comes to all things of a binary code nature. I have already paid my money for “RegCure” and see little difference other than that I can’t get MSN chat up and running anymore. Any suggestions?

I was going to try the finally fast method if the price seemed reasonable. It would seem though having read through all the comments posted here that would be asking for trouble and paying to do so. A dunce I admit to but utterly stupid I am not.

Thank you for providing this wake up knowledge. A small laptop in Kent, England is grateful. I have to accept that my system is primarily slow because I live in a dodgy connection area. Its taken a 3 year wait to get net availability at all so I should be grateful.

[...] away from it! I will post just two (of many) warnings…  FinallyFast.com – Does It Work? ~ The Blade by Ron Schenone, MVP When we tested this site we found links to ascentive.com, which we found to be a distributor of [...]

Beware do not download any software from this site, had to do a system restore after downloading from this site, my spyware went crazy after try to remove this program. BEWARE

Thanks Robert for the information.

This software is a scam. You can use freeware such as Glary Utilities or Advanced Window’s Care(along with a half dozen others) that do what this software does, and more, for free!

These people simply cloned some freeware, spent the money to slap it on television and BAMMO!
The computer illiterate line up by the truckloads to buy their crap software when the real deal is free all over the internet.

Basically they’re ripping people off for about $100 USD for programs that really won’t improve the performance of their PC by more than 10% – There’s a sucker born every minute!

This program is now being aired on Australian PayTv channels (Late January 2009) and from the american voices promoting its virtues, I am guessing it is either the same or a slightly modified version of the US advertising.
Because of our advertising laws, there is a disclaimer shown that Payment could be required for full activation.
I noticed the disclaimer is sort of a grey banner, not invisible but not prominant either.
It will be intersting to see what reports come from here from anyone who tries it.

Hello Gordan,
Please let us know what you learn.
Regards, Ron

Hello.

This scam has just started to run on UK cable (Crime and Investigation, for one)

The ad/film quality is dire and looks as though it was produced by a first year media student!

It certainly warranted a Google search to see if anyone had, sadly, fallen for it.

What amazes me is how are these sites allowed to be advertised on television?

Hello Terry – thanks for the info.

Hi Dave – FF pays for the ads and the TV stations could care less if the ads are truthful or not.

I saw the commercial for the first time tonight. they are sadly probably making a ton of money. sad. very sad.

Hey, just wondering, why is IE8 reporting this site as using cross-site scripting? Is THIS site up to something weird??? Warning says:
——
How does Internet Explorer help protect me from cross-site scripting attacks?
Internet Explorer’s Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Filter can help prevent one website from adding script code to another website. XSS Filter watches how websites interact, and when it recognizes a potential attack, it will automatically block script code from running. When this happens, you will see a message in the Information bar letting you know that the webpage was modified to help protect your privacy and security.

If the modified webpage does not work properly, try going to the home page of the website and navigating to the webpage directly. If the page still does not work correctly, contact the website’s administrator.

Hello John B,
Interesting. I’m using IE8 and I am not getting that message when I surf over to FF. I’m wondering if it is a false positive? Just a guess on my part. Also Firefox nor Chrome exhibit an error message indicating cross scripting.

Regards, Ron

Well, It would be nice to get my computer a little faster so I was considering using finallyfast.com. I had 2nd thoughts about it, and how it would effect my computer. I’m the type of person to not ever do what everyone else is doing (rebel). But seemed OK. I read almost all the comments; and what you guys said made a lot of since. I’m so so so so so so glad that I didn’t download any thing from finallyfast.com.

Thanks People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad the comments helped you make a decision.

With all the free virus and spyware software out there why would you pay for this. It’s like the phonejack thing, why pay to have someone put adware on your pc?

but then again, if you are too stupid to buy into this and not question it, good luck to you.

also……i find it interesting that when you type finallyfast.com into google…you get sites telling you how bad it is, instead of the actual site… hilarious

Hi Dude,
It does appear that more bad than good is being reported about finally fast.

I wish I had stumbled on to this forum before falling prey to FinallyFast.com. I think it may have been my respect for the History Channel, which is one of my favorites. It appears that the name “FinallyFast” is the umbrella under which you are brought in so that you can be sold several “fixes” to parts of the larger problem. First, you’re sold the registry fixer. Then you find out you need an Internet optimizer, then … And each fix is $29.95 a pop–if you don’t wise up soon! Scam City!

Thanks Took for sharing your experience with us. Hopefully it will save someone from falling into the finallyfast trap.

I NEED SO MUCH HELP ON SOMETHING BUT IT’S A WEBSITE !!!!

I found this as I search the question ask..:

FinallyFast.com – The website FinallyFast.com advertises a free download of a Windows registry cleaner to speed up your computer, but doesn’t tell you it’s $29.95 to actually remove anything.

What FinallyFast.com is selling – a Windows registry cleaner – you can get for free in a product called Spybot Search & Destroy and you can dramatically speed up your computer by removing the adware and spyware that SpyBot finds.

Take a closer look at what the FinallyFast website is really offering: You have a problem with your computer running really slow, they offer a seemingly free solution. Once you see the list of junk files clogging up your registry file, you think you have a huge problem and purchase Finally Fast.

Basically, the FinallyFast.com website is just a finely tuned system of getting you to pay for something you could get for free. They wouldn’t be spending big bucks advertising on ESPN if the FinallyFast website wasn’t making a killing.

Here’s how you speed up your PC in three simple steps.

Open Windows control panel and remove any unwanted programs
Remove as many icons and folders as possible from your desktop
Download the free SpyBot Search & Destroy program and clean your PC
And that’s how you achieve even better results than you get with FinallyFast. Plus, it doesn’t cost you a dime.

And that’s the latest news on FinallyFast.com.

So what do you think?

I punked them a while back when I got bored.

Kept the guy on the phone for over a half hour asking him idiot questions, then when he was pushing the sale, I asked him if it worked on Linux, and he told me yes.

Me: “And this works on any computer?”

Him: “Yes any computer, and it fixes things like registry errors”

Me: “I don’t think this computer has a registry”

Him: “All computers have a registry”

Me: “So this will make my registry go faster?”

Him: “Yes it will”

*rolls eyes*

I went to finallyfast.com because my husband saw it advertised on TV and all it did was shut my computer down. I already knew I had a virus, but this website killed my computer!!!!!!! DO NOT USE FINALLY FAST.COM!!!!

So very happy I know enough to google EVERYTHING before I actually try it. I knew it was all bullcrap but figured hey let’s check it out! Very happy I found this site! Thank you all for this awesome info :)

It appears that the Washington Metro/Philly area Better Business Bureau gave Ascentive  FinallyFast.com) a rating of F. Go to http://www.bbb.org and type in the Ascentive phone number … (215) 320-6000

I did a search for Finallyfast.com to out more about it form husband when I came across this site. After reading through all the comments you confirmed all that I thought it was. What I use and it works great is Advanced System Care from http://www.IObit.com it also gives you downloads to Smartdefrag, Game Boost, SmartRAM, Internet Boost for Foxfire, Disk Cleaner, Registry Defrag, Shortcut Fixer, and many others that are free for home use. They have a PRO verision that s 29.99 that doe alot more but the free verision does wonders.

I loaded a computer with a clean copy of windows XP PRO and we went to finallyfast.com to check our system, so on our clean system we ran a scan. Of course it came back with problems found and recommended that we buy their program to fix our issues. This type of scam been around for a while back when you loaded windows 98 and got them pop ups saying that your system is infected and you need to go to their website to be rid of the problems same scam different package

Hey, thanks to whoever rec’ed Glary up above…I Googled to see if Finally Fast was any good, and came here instead. Also thanks to all of the good recs in the comments. Really, my computer was molasses earlier this evening and now it’s showing great signs of improved performance. :)

Hello John,
You are welcome.
Regards. Ron

The authors/vendors of this kind of crap (FF) are as bad as the (twisted, sick) individuals who code and/or release other virulent material which is as vexing to pros and everyday users. We should rally all the people to offer up more stringent consequences for the offendors.

i was about to go to finallyfast.com, until i stumbled onto this

It’s a scam they claim to be able to speed your internet up by 375%. That’s impossible. A program can’t speed your internet up.

I just saw the commercial so I thought I would look into. I figured it was crap but good for a laugh considering my computer is blazing fast. Guess I was right.

I use CCleaner. It’s free, unobtrusive, configurable, and has many options including a great registry cleaner. I’ve never had an issue with it and they update it regularly.

BTW, your site came up first when I Googled finallyfast. Perhaps that will save some people some headaches down the road and that’s a good thing.

Thanks for the post and the information, Ron!

Hi Shamballa,
CCleaner is a great product. Thanks for stopping by.
All the best, Ron

I read through all the comments. Thanks so much. I was about to load my 3 month old pc with this scam I did not. don’t like the idea to spend on programs to just protect and maintain a pc.But this is the way we do the things. Well my PC is slow and the pointer sticks every time I try to move it. Then it starts whenever it wants to. I get message that the IE was closed and on and on and on. I have IE8 and Vista. Any one has this p[roblem?
Thanks. I enjoyed reading your comments
baba

My son told me about finally fast and I thought I would just read the reviews. I have had ccleaner in the past and really liked it. I think I will redownload it. My pc is slow, but I am thinking it the cable modem I have and the fact everyone is on at the time I am. Once my pc had a bad malware I took it in to an office supply store (I won’t name names) and they disabled my Norton 360 and installed spysweeper. They then uninstalled spysweeper and abled Norton and charged me 99.00 to do this. I could have bought that program for a year for less than that.

Wow! I just left my TV and it was showing about how good Finallyfast is. Then I saw this information.. So glad I didn’t download it. I use the CCleaner, Spybot, Webroot spysweeper, and Webroot Window washer. For my defrag, I did buy Vopt9. And I like the features of it, and how it works.

Now one different problem I’m having is the Google Chrome. My server is comcast.net, when I click on Google Chrome, it is fast, gets me to my e-mail folder so quick I can’t beleave it. But the problem with the Goolge chrome is there spell check is not there. And if you want to print something, it don’t print the data E-mail. Any suggestions on this matter. Now I’m going to print out the listing of freebies you showed. LOL I wil try to print it out while here on Google Chrome, and knowing it won’t work I’ll come back on to firefox. I got internet 8,XP. I don’t see any thing better about it..Thanks ..Ray aka ratman4u

I refuse to use finally fast simply because their commercial is so painfully bad. Besides, as has been said before, if it’s ‘free’ and they’re paying for national advertising, there is a catch somewhere.

its suprising how meny blast ff.com but didnt even try the software. i bought it and love it. none of my anti viral software(svg, avg, noaddware and mccafey’s) sayes a thing about it! all i have noticed is that it fixed my reg errors and the cpu boots faster!!! just what they clam it to do. you dont have to dowmload the other stuff that you claim slows dow your cpu if you dont want to. they have the same catch as most…free scan and then pay to fix and remove unwanted things

peace

I’d just like to say THANKS!!! so much for all the info on this FINALLYFAST download site..!!!..my daughter was just telling me about it, and so my husband searched for it, and your link was the second one I seen…I’ve never been here, but, I’ll be sure to be back…this site is great…:)) thanks for the hard work..:))

MrsC,
You are most welcome.

Umm… Holebert, what kind of drugs are you on? Cause I want some!

Great site- glad I found it.

What Do You Think?
