Microsoft Has OEMs Adding Defender & One Care To PCs
Microsoft appears to be on a mission to have more OEMs to add Windows Defender and also Windows Live One Care to their new systems. Microsoft is telling its partners that by adding these protections to new computers, users will have a more enjoyable experience. Microsoft is also trying to point out that these protections software are not crapware, but are enhancements.
Most of us are familiar with the fact that Vista already includes Windows Defender which provides protection from spyware, pop-ups and slow performance, according to Microsoft. But Microsoft now wants OEM’s to provide a 90 day trail of its Windows Live One Care software as well. Microsoft states on its web site that:
“Microsoft and Sony share the same goal of helping our customers get the most from their PC experience,” said Xavier Lauwaert of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics. “Through this alliance, Windows Live OneCare will provide our customers with a simple solution to help them maintain and secure their new PC.”
Consumers in more than 12 countries can now better protect and maintain their new PC with a free trial of Windows Live OneCare with the following hardware providers:

So what do you think? Is Microsoft doing a favor by adding Windows Live One Care to selected systems? Or is this just another way to market its software and block out competing vendors?
