How To Unsubscribe From Windows Secret

It seems that I have been having a problem getting off the Windows Secret mailing list since it combined with Gizmo Richards Support Alert newsletter. Last week I received both Windows Secret [which I had previously canceled] and the Support Alert newsletter. When I saw that they were combining, I unsubcribed to both, and received notification that I had been unsubscribed. Guess what? Today I got both newsletters again.

I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue. Below is the link to use to cancel your subscription to Windows Secret and Support Alert.

I am hoping this time my request to unsubscribe will work and that I will no longer receive either newsletter. :-)

Comments welcome.

Maybe you got the free versions of the newsletters?

My word Ron, you seem to be quite anxious to get rid of both newsletters. You obviously found Windows Secrets as well as Tech Support Alert good enough to subscribe to individually, but now that they’ve joined you think they will suck?

I haven’t come to that conclusion yet. Sure, I don’t think we (the readers) will be better off in the new situation. There’s less choice, to begin with. And what will happen to the contents, I have my doubts. But I’m not ready to cancel my subscription yet. I can always do that, if I want.

Still, it’s a pity these publications disappear. First the Langa List, now Support Alert. And hasn’t Windows Secrets merged earlier, a few years ago? It used to be called Brian’s Buzz on Windows. I remember the name change, they had to buy the domain name Windows Secrets because somebody had already registered it. I just can’t remember if it had something to do with a merger or that sort of thing.

Hello Rejean Levesque,
That is correct.

Hello Roelof,
Just disappointed that WS seems to be taking over all of the best newsletter.

I had previously unsubscribed to WS which worked OK. But when they merged with SA I started getting the newsletters again. Not one, but 4 of them.

I was thinking that others may of have a similar problem, so that is why I posted the article. Nothing more, nothing less.

Regards, Ron

Yes, I am also ticked off by the way Windows Secrets is carrying on. Taking over the best newsletters out there, I mean. Microsoft is sometimes being accused of buying up the competition to get them out of the way. It seems this is exactly what WS is doing.

They have not exactly done themselves a favor with their Langa stunt. Gizmo Richards has posted a series of FAQ’s on his site with regard to the merger. One of those questions is ‘are you going to retire now?’ Seems like a lot of others beside me see unpleasant similarities between the Support Alert ‘merger’ and the Langa case. Lots of bad publicity for Livingstone and his crew. I have also written a post on it on my personal blog.

Seems to me that a couple folks wanted to slow down in their lives and/or retire. That’s something we all have to do sometime unless we are super beings. Personally, I plan to
try to slow down and enjoy my grandkids before I get so old and decrepit I cannot.
I was also subscribed to the same aforementioned publicaitons and in each case, unsubed when started getting multiple issues, Then reupped when they stopped and got only one at one address. Maybe that’s a better solution than just quitting altogether.

Thanks for the guys. It is appreciated.

Regards, Ron
