Which makes one wonder. How long will it be before Vista overtakes Windows XP? What is your best guess?

Comments welcome.

Ron, do they say how these figures were obtained? And where they apply? I think that Linux is, on a worldwide scale, at least 3 times that. Also, I think that Win 2000 is higher than quoted.

I saw some figures that were given on a website in England, that were quoted as worldwide.

Windows 200 still hanging in there. I used ol 200 up until 2003 when I finally switched to XP.

Just think in 5 years XP will probably be third with Vista at least at 70% and OS X right behind it.

Of course anything can happen in 5 years, maybe a “different” Microsoft OS?

Also, I don’t see figures for any Unixes – they aren’t all gone.

I’m curious – any idea how these stats were put together?

They do not indicate how the stats were collected.

I did fix the link to the source if anyone wants to take a closer look at these and other stats.

Absolute bunk. Figures pulled out of their ass.
