Microsoft Windows Vista - Respecting Each Others Opinion

After finding Fred Langa alive and well over a blogger.com yesterday, I noticed a reader comment which asked Fred why he hadn’t upgraded to Vista. To which Fred replied: “Tried it. Didn’t like it. :-)” Fred wasn’t able to describe why he didn’t like Vista because of some legal issues, which he states should end in about 90 days or so, but that is not what is important.
In fact his simple statement says it all. He doesn’t care for it. No dumb ‘Vista sucks’ reply. Just one persons opinion. An opinion that we should all respect. No matter who makes the statement. During the past 18 months or so, there have been many articles on Vista in which people have expressed their likes and dislikes. There have also been many comments left at various forums in which people have expressed their ’sucks’ opinion.
But what is annoying is the opinions from people who obviously haven’t even used the operating system. They base their opinions on what they read or from others opinions. We also have to deal with the anti-Microsoft crowd. No matter what Microsoft comes out with it is bad. On the other side of the coin are the Microsoft zealots. They love Vista beyond belief.
I fall in the middle of the road and have stated before that Vista is ‘OK’.
So my point is this. If your only statement is ’sucks’ or ‘love it’, without some substantial facts and/or real life experience, please keep your remarks to yourself. The rest of us are tired of hearing the same old tripe.
Comments welcome.

Part of the problem is that the computer press feeds this - not the sucks part - there are many reviews of Vista that a reviewer will point out in no uncertain terms what is wrong with Vista. The persons reading the material try it, and perhaps they too, cannot put their finger on why they don’t like it, but they make their opinion known, in the best way that this generation knows.
It cannot be overestimated how much the English language has eroded in common use. Many have gotten used to what I call ‘IM speak’ or what is used by young people on instant messengers and cell phones - this is not the English language by any stretch of the imagination.
There is art to criticism, and proper writing - it is not getting passed on to many of the up and coming.
The other part is what I said in the first sentence - the press feeding the constant criticism. Or looking to stir things up.
I am probably the worst critic of Microsoft on LG, but I am also quick to praise - as I spoke highly of Windows Live Mail, and the Windows Live Writer blogging application ( I am constantly amazed at the speed with which these guys respond to problems, and are accessible, through a continuing dialog with users……why aren’t these people, and thier work ethic, not in the OS division?). Also, I am a big fan of XP - it is not perfect, but it’s their best effort to date - and part of their problem now is that XP is so good.
The problem, for me, is that MS has forgotten what gets them the greatest praise, or criticism - their operating systems . Lately, these are poor to very poor - even the server OSs are not carefully constructed, as George Ou (formerly of ZDNet) points out. I truly think that the good ideas have run short lately. One look at the file structure of Vista and it’s easy to see that Microsoft is simply copying Unix constructs. It won’t be long before the structure will include the names bin, var, and etc - perhaps in ‘7′
Many, rather than go into detail, as I have done, simply condense their opinion into that one word.
