Ubuntu 8.04 with Linux kernel 2.6.24-18?
Darn it! Not listed, I guess I’ll just install Windows so I can run those programs to keep it safe.

Could you imagine how long the list would be if I included every security program?

Well, the last time I had to deal with Windows, was at the library, and Windows being Windows, they had to lock it down pretty tight to keep people from infecting it with the multitude of malware out there, part of their “security” policy was to disallow Flash 9 (Flash 7 is allowed), they also won’t put a PDF viewer on the system, so the enire purpose of me using the system (to print a PDF) was defeated, and I bought a printer at Wal-Mart, plugged it into my Linux box, and licked my wounds. (My old printer was busted and I was trying to cheap out until more money rolled in)
Anywho, the library in Marion Indiana uses a program called Userful, which uses a customized Fedora Linux to turn one tower into 10 internet connected workstations, (3 towers=30 workstations), this provides a system that is secure, cost effective, cuts the utility bills, and is good for the environment, to say nothing of the fact that it’s a delight to use because they don’t have to throw the user in a security policy gulag.
Just in case you’re curious, Userful’s website is:
http://library.userful.com/
The demo CD doesn’t time out and can be used to turn one tower into two workstations, I thought it was sufficiently cool, it also speaks volumes of how bad Windows must be if Microsoft’s drug dealer style licensing (give it to the libraries for free so the user doesn’t know Linux is out there) isn’t working, because the libraries then need more sysadmins to babysit the 30 towers running Windows.

Hello Ryan,
Thanks for the information and the link.
I hope you are out of harms way from the flooding.
