Vista - The OS That Can’t Get A Break

One would think that after a year and one-half the Vista rhetoric would have been put out to pasturer. But Vista is still suffering from being snubbed, this time by developers. In a recent survey of 390 software developers, only 8% stated they were working on Vista stuff. In a recent article it stated:
Vista may yet make strides in the coming year, with 24 per cent expressing their intentions to target the OS in 2009, and 29 per cent expecting to continue with XP.
Joe Sweeney, IBRS analyst, said: “We’ve seen a very big ‘wait and see’ approach with Vista, and with all the mistakes Microsoft has made in regards to it things aren’t looking too good at the moment.”
Which makes one wonder. Is Vista the only operating system that has faced so much resistance? The only other Windows operating system I can think of that has a well deserved bad rap was Windows ME. I recall that people were advised to dump ME and go back to Windows 98.
If as the article goes on to state that some are waiting until 2009 before sailing aboard the good ship Vista, why wouldn’t they just wait until 2010 for Windows 7?
Another thought. Has Vista been beaten into the ground enough already? Or is it a well deserved beating?
Comments welcome.
Now Symantec has joined the chorus here.

I just reinstalled ME on one of my old computers, and am amazed at how fast it boots to the desktop. Maybe I’ll dump XP for ME…lol.
