Vista Is Getting Better - We Are Reaching A ‘Milestone’

Well you got to give Steve Ballmer some credit for finally admitting that Vista has had some hardware and compatibility issues, but Vista is getting better. He also admits that Vista is over kill when it comes to security and feels it was ‘over tuned’. Because of this ‘over tuned’ security some other issues like ‘application compatibility’ were ignored. Oh yeah…..battery performance was forgotten as well. But all is going to be A-OK with Sp1. Well maybe not all is going to be A-OK but ‘Sp1 is a major milestone.’
I must admit that SP1 has addressed some issues on my system and that performance seems to be better. But I don’t think anyone can say exactly how much SP1 will solve issues until the masses install it and problems start to surface. If you don’t have any issues with Sp1 then you are one of the ‘milestones’. If you do have issues with SP1 I guess you will be classified as being unable to be considered a ‘milestone’.
Comments welcome.

I have Windows Vista installed on three different systems:
1. an HP desktop with an AMD single 2.6GHz processor, ATI 2400HD 256MB, 3.0GB RAM
2. a DELL desktop with an Intel single 3.0GHz processor, nVidia GeForce 5200 256MB, 3.0GB RAM
3. a MacBook Pro with an Intel Core2Duo 2.4GHz procesor, nVidia GeForce 8600M GT 256MB, 2.0GB RAM (just got in on Tuesday after Apple released the updated models)
I have to say, that Windows Vista runs great on all of them. If I had to pick that one where the WHOLE process was easy, including finding all of the drivers, the MacBook Pro runs Windows Vista the best. I’m looking forward to installing SP1 on the HP and Dell, I’ll wait until Apple says it’s okay to install it in my BootCamp partition.

Hi dabrace1984,
With your system spec’s I doubt if you will encounter any issues with Sp1.

I’m not expecting there to be any problems with my HP and Dell. I’m more worried about the applications that I have running on these machines. As for my MacBook Pro, but I’m still waiting until Apple gives it a thumbs up before it even gets near it. Even when Apple gives it a thumbs up, I will be making any image of the BootCamp partition beforehand.

Ron,
Here’s a useless comment…
You’re a writer… You should know the difference between ‘than’ and ‘then’.
I guess nobody cares if MS Word doesn’g flag it as mis-spelled. Sad.
I only mention this because your opinions carry more weight when you write with a professional level of attention to something so basic. Utterly incorrect word usage detracts from the valuable information you are trying to share.
But maybe I am just a dinosaur.

Thanks for pointing that out.
