Intel 915 Users Were Burned By Vista?
Most of us have already read he reports about the release of the memo’s from Microsoft in which there is much discussion about Vista and Vista Capable computers. These memo’s were released by the corut after it was decided that a class-action status would apply to all who purchased Vista Capable computers.
But there is one thing that stands out in the memo’s that has frustrated users who bought computers with Intel’s 915 graphic chip. The bottom line was that the chip could not support the Aero features of Vista, and users were than stuck with only being able to use Vista Basic. I personally think that Vista Basic is a total waste of money and users would be better off sticking with Windows XP.
Getting back to Vista. What is going to be interesting is how the courts will view this. Since the sticker Capable meant Vista would run, the bottom line is, were the purchasers aware that this may have meant Basic only and not other versions? Also was this Capable sticker meant to protect Intels sales of their 915 graphics chip as some have implied?
Microsoft denies this was the case and that they made every effort to inform the public of what Capable meant.
What do you think? Comments welcome.
