Checked it out recently and it seems to be pretty good, defragging about 160GB in very good time. Am considering purchasing it as i can forget about checking frag levels every now and then or troubleshooting hangs and freezes while using the native tool which leaves me more exhausted than the drive itself.

Fragmentation can be a royal pain if it is allowed to proliferate unchecked. 6 months between defrags is too long I think ;) Like you said, it's easier to use an automatic defragger that handles stuff in the background; more convenient and effective than remembering to schedule a defrag regularly. Having the drive in an un-fragmented state can help stave off premature hardware replacement costs by prolonging the life of the drive. Also, saves money and increases productivity by keeping the systems in top shape, and reducing the workload of the IT guys.
