Hi Cathy,

Registry Booster 2 has a much improved scanning engine, that can find a high number of invalid entries. However this does not mean that all the marked entries are serious registry problems, but they can merely be invalid shortcut links in your "recent documents" menu for example.
These are non critical errors, but they can still constitute an invalid registry entry, and removing such invalid entries will result in a "cleaner" registry (and a smaller registry means a faster registry).

Registry Booster keeps showing in Startup section:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This could be due to some other (3rd party) registry protection software, which is preventing Registry Booster (and also your manual intervention through the System Configuration Utility) from being able to save changes to the registry. If you have uninstalled the program and it's gone from the ProgramFiles folder, there is no way Registry Booster is still affecting your system. What seems to be the case is that some other software is preventing you from making changes to the windows registry. What I suggest is that you temporarily disable such registry protection software (could be part of your antivirus package) in order to be able to make changes to the registry through the System Configuration Utility. If you still need assistance with the matter feel free to send a request to our Technical Support team, making sure you mention all running security utilities installed on your computer. You can submit a Technical query here: http://www.liutilities.com/support/ticket/

I hope that this helps!

I found RB2 tonite, just like you did in January and tried the free trial-532 errors, which semed like a lot since I have Register Cure running-But, like you said-There isn't ONE product that will do it all. I was not given ANY errors that would be fixed -so I removed it (add/remove) and checked to make sure it was gone from C:\Program Files\RegistryBooster2....and it was-BUT it keeps showing up in my System Configuration Utility NO MATTER how many times I uncheck and reboot. That's strange--Scary to me!
I emailed Hilary since she was so nice to offer her email for any concerns. Hope she has a solution for me.

Regarding Uniblue SpeedUp my PC 3

Dear Hillary,

Since the trial version is useless, can you tell me how to remove it in my PC it is just getting on the way. It doesn't have any uninstaller, don't know if you guys deliberately did not include it!
Appreciate your immediate reply.

No Ron, I've never tried that usb Ram Booster option, as I don't feel I need it, especially where I'm not into gaming or other resource hogs. I have read some reviews on it, and most authors agree that there is "some difference" but not worth the expense over just upgrading to a true RAM addition.

About the only time I notice a drop in performance is when I've been in a photo imaging session, as that of course, hogs a lot of memory. I usually run my "ccCleaner" program and sometimes just do a reboot to restore the RAM. Other than that, I've had no problems whatsoever with the Vista and 1Gig of RAM. Reboot times average under a minute, as I have very little running in the background, and have absolutely no programs set for "auto anything", not even Windows Updates. I run everything manually whenever I wish to check for updates on any programs I have.

Good luck on getting an evaluation copy of UniBlue Ron ... from the looks of it, if you want a "taste", you'll have to come up with some green, or so the ladies of the evening say here in the Boston area. LOL

Hi Don,
Thanks for the info on RB2. I have contacted the company & asked for a evaluation copy to test. We will see what happens.

Also thanks for the info on your experience with Vista.

Have you tried using a usb drive with RamBooster? I'd be interested to see if you notice any difference in performance.

Later, Ron

Ron, I've been using the full version for a few months now, and in fact, was using it during my initial housecleaning/setup for the new Gateway. Prior to that, it was installed on my older pc and did a marvelous job. I use both the JV16 and UniBlue utilities to maintain my system.

As you know, no one program can "do it all", and these two programs collectively do a superb job in keeping the Registry nice and clean, especially after doing a "delete program" and then finding lots of leftover junk. We've all been there, haven't we! The UniBlue program also requires a reboot after going through its routine, and always asks the user if he/she wishes to make a full/partial backup before doing the cleanup. It defaults to a partial backup in anycase, and stores 8 backups, at which time it asks if you wish to delete the older ones. I thought that was a nice touch by the software authors.

I still miss the XP Pro OS Ron, but have slowly (begrugingly!) gotten used to the Vista way of "doing business". It's not all that bad, and with just 1Gig of RAM, it functions well. Having a clean, unobstructed system is a must with the 1Gig though, and that may contribute to the many negative comments you've received with regards to Vista "being a dog", "bogs down all the time", etc. etc.

Hi there Ron and readers of the column,

I'm Hilary Rogers from Uniblue. I have read your article with interest and have noted your concerns and comments. I hope that I can shed some light on this, and would like to apologise for any confusion.

The free scan's intention is for users to evaluate their computer before purchasing the full product. It is marketed as a free scan, not a free "solution". To evaluate the error fixing capabilities of Registry Booster we included a 15 error fixes. It is understandable that if we gave away a free trial version which fixed all registry errors (even for a short period), then many people would see no point in purchasing the full product. You can read evaluations of the full version of RegistryBooster 2 here:

www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/unibluereg/
3d2f.com/smartreviews/0-419-registry-booster-speed-up-pc-the-right-way-read.shtml
www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1195

If you decide to buy the full version and you aren't satisfied, then we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.

If anyone has any questions about the product, or needs support, then you can email me directly: hilaryr@uniblue.net

I hope that this information will clarify the issue, but if not, please get in touch :-)

Thanks,
Hilary
