Bamboo - Asus Prototype Laptop

Asus is working on a prototype of a laptop computer that uses Bamboo for it’s outer shell. The design is similar to a previous prototype that Asus offers which comes in leather. Dubbed the Asus Eco Book the new laptop will be made from what Asus describes as a renewable source, since Bamboo is plentiful in the Orient.

It is unknown how much the new prototype will cost. But if it was in align with other plastic boxes, would this be something you would consider buying?

I don’t think I would want to use this.
What would the durability be? How would it handle heat from the computer? If it gets wet, what is going to happen? What about if it is dropped? What about the bamboo aging over time? If the battery on the laptop fries, is the bamboo going to catch fire?
Too many questions. Only time can tell. I am an early adopter, but you will not see this on my desk anytime soon

I’m with computrout on this…I’d be afraid of this thing catching on fire from laptop heat…
Isn’t there some better renewable resource they could use? What about rocks? Everybody loves rocks…I know it’d be heavy but I wouldn’t have to worry about it burning my house to the ground.
