The Art Of Finding A Wii This Holiday Season

During the past three weeks or so I have been trying to locate not one, but two, Nintendo Wii’s for the grand kids. I have learn a lot during my quest and I thought I would share some of my findings. Some of the hints I received came from readers here who posted comments a month ago on where to look for the elusive gaming console. If you want a PS3 or X-Box 360, no problem. They are in an abundance where ever you go. But a Wii is hard to find.
Check your Sunday newspaper. Especially the ads at Best Buy, Target and Toys R Us. Call first to make sure they do in fact have the Wii in stock. I found an ad at Toys R Us but when I called the shipment had not come in. On one Sunday Target actually had the Wii’s available. I made a mad rush to the store and got the last Wii remaining in stock.
Also try a friendly clerk at Wal-Mart and find out when there shipments come in. If there are other Wal-Marts near you, they can also check to see if any other stores have Wii’s in stock. The clerk I spoke with at our local store said shipments came in Wednesday morning. Sure enough on Wednesday [yesterday] they got 12 Wii’s in and I was able to grab one.
If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, please post them.
Comments welcome.

I think it is a crime to purposefully create shortages of these tech gadgets and we all know the manufacturer does this. What is the point of creating a shortage of products that have set prices? It’s ridiculous. The price does not go up when it is in demand and then fall when units are plentiful.
Seems to me if the manufacturer would produce more units they would sell more units..common sense. I think these faux shortages, which I believe they are, only cause some potential buyers to give up and try something else that is available.
Wii has been popular since the last holiday season ended so it should have been no surprise the demand would be high…why can’t they just increase production to a point where we don’t have idiots pushing and shoving and hurting each other for what is basically future landfill items…
just my .02 cents
