Vista SP1 Beta Working Very Well

  • No Related Post

Since installing Windows Vista SP1, I have been using my Vista box a lot more since the performance has vastly improved. I may be one of the lucky ones, but thus far I have not run into a single glitch. Last week I did receive an update from Microsoft in which it stated there had been about 100+ reports of minor issues that it was working on. But for me, the computer Gods have blessed my Vista box so far and I must admit, I’m finally able to use the system, performancewise, like Windows XP.

The biggest benefit thus far for me in using SP1 is that my system starts a lot faster. Before the service pack, boot time was annoying since it was so slow. The system now boots more like XP and is a lot quicker than before. File copying between network systems has improved as well.

I was thinking this morning it is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I received the RTM version of Vista Ultimate. It is also hard to believe that it has taken this long for Microsoft to come out with a service pack.

Overall I think that Microsoft is moving in the right direction and may finally get Vista up to speed.

With these improvements I will be using my Vista box more than I have in the past. :-)

Comments welcome.

Sounds very good! When will SP1 be available for the masses?

Hello tbsteph,
Hopefully by the first quarter of 2008. But you know Microsoft. They are unpredictable with their time schedule. :-)

I can’t wait till the working version of Vista comes out. I had to take the RC2 beta version off of my computer because of all the problems. I was looking at a very old laptop and I saw the xp license on it and I thought “wow MS should have kept making XP better with more service packs and better security because Vista has turned out to be such a long beta test”.

I bashed Vista and it was very emotional for me to have to learn the in’s and out’s while working , going to school etc….but finally learned to shut up long enough to listen……

What I heard was better memory…lol..!! yep got rid of the crap from Korea the Toshiba OEM and installed 4 gig of Patriot laptop and never looked back…..the only BSOD’d I ever got were from FF the .8 version now w/ the 0.9 ver. the machine works very well and have even considered buying a Vista bible like I did w/ XP to learn the details …….bravo for good news…….it’s a pleasant change and I learned to be more patient…amazing what one can learn…HA….Keep us informed I’d luv to see how 4 gigs (well 3.54g) will make it zoom w/ SP1…!!!
