Just a quick note:
If you are interested in building your own gOS Linux back, you can start with getting a Via motherboard for $59.99. Over at ClubIT they have the gOS Via board and also 1 G of RAM at $21.99 [after rebate]. This is the same motherboard that is being used in the Everex Linux PC’s being sold at Wal-Mart.
FWIW - these systems are mainly for light computer work.
Also the gOS is not affiliated with Google.

I’ve looked at the board, and the specs. It would make a great start for a Smoothwall Express firewall, or a Vyatta firewall/router. (provided you’re not connected to a T3, it doesn’t have the horsepower for that.)

First off,
I would like to point out the positives and the negatives of gOS.
positives:
– sound drives work just fine. - Although it outputs sound on headphone AND speakers, not only just one mode…
– visually stunning ubuntu interface.
pretty easy to use for the linux beginner.
negatives:
– looks way too much like Mac OSX. - Why does the linux community feel the need to imitate other’s visual interfaces, rather than just use the plain old linux GUI?
Couple of issues getting wireless to work. Some graphical features such as the volume control fail to display, cuasing my speakers to almost blow out.
Other than that I can’t really complain, I have to say gOS is revamping their reputation. With the success with the Everex Cloudbook (* not the hardware folks, just the OS *) I have to support them in their movements.
