How To Request Dell Backup Disks

I have read numerous posts in forums and on other sites about customers of Dell not being provided with system operating disk aka Windows nor drivers disk needed for their systems. This always poses a problem when these people are advised to do a repair install or other system repair, only to discover that they have no disks. The normal solution recommended is to contact Dell support and ask for the disks.

Dell has a support site where you can order disks for your system as well as other important links to updated drivers. On the site Dell states:

Dell Customers can now request a set of backup discs containing the factory-installed operating system as well as the device drivers and utilities specific to your system.

Requests are limited to one (1) set of backup discs per system purchased.

The backup discs requested must match the operating system that was factory installed on the original order.

Please note that Dell will provide you the most up to date Resource disc available, containing the latest drivers and diagnostic tools currently being shipped on new systems. Due to the frequent updates, this Resource disc may not have all the drivers needed for your specific system, especially if it is over one (1) year old.

Complete details here.

Comments welcome.

“Due to the frequent updates, this Resource disc may not have all the drivers needed for your specific system, especially if it is over one (1) year old.” This is why I hate dell. When I had my Dell Laptop, I had to get system restore disks, and they sent them to me. However they neglected to tell me that they no longer make my system, and than the CDs are useless. I was told to get the drivers off the internet (shame that the only thing I needed from the disk were the wireless network drivers). Finally a nice supervisor found the drivers on the disk (labeled as for another system) that would work on my computer.

Hello jfcapasso,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It is also good to know you found someone at Dell who actually could assist you and solve your problem.
