Be Careful Of What You Download

I received an email asking my opinion of a software product that purports to be a ‘porn filter’ for the modest price of only $24.95. I took a look at the web site for the product called Netdog Porn Filter. Seems that the person was unable to install the product on his system after paying for a license, technical support was not getting back to him and he wanted to know my thoughts of the product. I have never used this software before but some things on the web site stood out.
First was the grammar. I know, I know. I am not the most grammatical correct person on this planet, but some things on a site should at least make some sort of sense. Things like:
“After a long search I found a superb software to block all porn sites that is NetDog Porn Filter, really a superb. ”
“Thanks!!! I am at peace know that my kids cannot enter these web sites now. “
Though it didn’t indicate it, my guess was that these quotes were supposed to be from happy clients. My opinion is that the if the web site contains errors, how good could the software be? I would think that the software may contain bad code as well.
The site has no FAQ section. So everyone who is using the software never had a problem.
Support is provided my email only. There are no phone numbers nor addresses for contact information.
Take a look at the web site. Is this something you would download on your computer? I know I wouldn’t.
What product would you recommend?
Comments as always are welcome.

I prefer opendns, http://www.opendns.com/ ,nothing to download, works with all OS’s. Also it’s free, being frugal (read cheap), I can appreciate it.
Setup is relatively easy, might be a bit much for noobs, but the web site has pretty good instructions. I use it on my kids boxes, one runs XP, the other Linux, it seems to do what they claim.
