Hotchalk is offering a free service for teachers that may just help in establishing better communication between them and their students. Hotchalk describes their service as:

Who is HotChalk for?

HotChalk is for teachers, students and parents from grades 12 and below. Teachers can use HotChalk to manage their coursework, collaborate with their students, and communicate with parents. Students can organize their work online in a centralized location. Parents can stay current with their child’s schoolwork and their teachers.

In addition, we have plans for adding features and tools for school administrators for the new school year.

Does my school have to be signed up?

No. Teachers and students can use HotChalk without the need of their school to sign them up.

We do have some school specific features planned for the near future. If you are a school administrator, stay tuned. Feel free to contact us for specific questions.

I am not in the United States. Can I use HotChalk?

Yes, absolutely.

How much does it cost to use HotChalk?

HotChalk is free.

HotChalk also offers archival video footage of historical events presented by NBC news that can be used as a teaching aid. So whether you are a teacher, student or parent, this is something you may wish to take a look at.
