Just a quick note:

Toshiba has expanded its efforts to recall faulty battery packs manufactured by Sony, in view of two additional laptop systems bursting into flames during the past several months. In one of the incidents the faulty battery had been recalled but the consumer failed to obtain a replacement battery pack. In subsequent investigations Toshiba has uncovered additional models in which battery packs should be replaced.

Almost all of the major OEMs have some type of a recall notice for laptop battery packs. If you are not sure if the recall applies to your model, check the Web site or call the manufacturer.
