Alienware - You Asked, We Listened - Barebone Case Sale

Alienware is now offering their barebone cases for sale using the slogan ‘you asked, we listened.” Which might sound familiar to you. Dell had bought Alienware back in March 2006. The Alienware cases come in either silver or black. This is a limited time offer from the company.

On their site they describe their case systems as:

Alienware P2 Barebones Kit
You asked, we listened! We’re giving PC enthusiasts a limited-time opportunity to purchase an Alienware P2 barebones kit featuring our highly popular P2 desktop chassis.

The barebones kit consists of a P2 extended ATX desktop chassis with standard Astral Blue lighting and a 700-watt power supply unit. In addition to its striking design, the case is packed with user-friendly features such as tool-less entry, easy-access front-side I/O ports and is designed for optimal airflow.

Standard System Lighting
The Alienware P2 chassis standard lighting consists of illuminating the following zones:

  • 1. Front Alienware alien head
    • Eyes
    • Perimeter
  • 2. Front panel I/O icons
    • FireWire (IEEE 1394)
    • Line In (Microphone)
    • Line Out (Headphones)
    • USB 2.0
  • 3. Side (left and right) Alienware alien head
    • Eyes
    • Perimeter

So as you can see, these are really barebone. If they got any barer one could actually call them boneless. I think that when most of us hear the term barebone we think of a case with power supply, mobo, cpu, and maybe another piece of hardware.

At a hefty pricing of $399 each, I wasn’t running to the phone to place my order. :-)  Though I must admit they are very attractive and cool.

Comments welcome.

Sounds like Dell is just being stupid again. They are either getting rid of the Alienware brand, or seriously de-valuing it. Plus, who is silly enough to pay $400 for just a case. When I look at cases, $400 better get me at least 12 5.25″ bays, 10 3.5″ bays, 4-6 120mm fans, and casters, and a place for redundant PSU.

Hi Marc,
For $400 you can buy a Wally-World Dell special ! LOL
