World's Fastest Browser – Benchmarking IE, Firefox, Opera And Safari

When Apple announced the availability of their browser Safari for Windows, I said to myself, ‘here we go again’. By this I meant that in the first week everybody will be jumping on the bandwagon making wild ascertains as to what browser is the fastest, which is more secure and making dubious claims about benchmarking results. Sure enough their are a host of stories all claiming to do just that.

So this week I performed extensive testing on IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari using the following indisputable testing procedures that were developed by a Tibetan monk and that have been certified by the FAA, FCC, USDA, SPCA, FDA, and other higher authority. I began the test procedure on June 16, 2007 at 0730 hrs., and concluding testing on June 16, 2007 at 0731 hrs. using the following procedure:

  • The four browsers were tested on every computer hardware configuration that has been in existence since Sept. 1, 1981.
  • The four browsers were tested with every ISP in the entire world known to man and beast alike.
  • I contacted every computer user in the world with a Internet connection and tallied their votes as to which browsers is best.
  • I than entered in all the data in my vehicles GPS system to find out which direction we were heading.
  • The results were than certified by the law firm of Schmuck, Schmuck & Schmuck alias Moe, Larry & Curly.
  • The resulting data consisting of a 722 page report has been submitted for inclusion in the obituary section of the N.Y. Times.

So which browser is the worlds fastest and best for everyone to use? IT IS THE ONE YOU ARE USING TO READ THIS!

That is the bottom line. Use the browser you feel most comfortable with. :-)

Comments welcome.

PS Comments with the word ‘suck’ in them will be totally destroyed! LOL

Good luck with that NY Times submission.

  2. What about Konqueror? I thought Opera was the best until I tried Konqueror. Makes an excellent file manager and ftp client too.

Actually, I’m reading this in Akregator. I don’t even think it’s really a browser. Maybe you should be testing feedreaders too…

    Hi Marc,
    Thanks. LOL

    Hi Tim,
I’ll feature Konqueror in my next round of world class testing. I do agree. Konqueror works fine.

    Hi.

I’m using Firefox. In fact, I’m not sure it is the best browser. But you’re right, I use the one I prefer !
So I can say I like you’re kind vision on this “browsers battle”.
Did you heard what Steve Jobs is thinking about that ? His vision is not so peaceful as yours. It’s in french but just look at the pictures, I think it’s clear enough

Call me when you’ll get news from NYT. ;-)

    (Sorry for my english)

    Hi chakka,
You think so do you? I thought the nuts were the ones that used
prejudiced data to prove their point on which browser was better.

I used to be a journalist and was obsessed with Netscape versus Explorer. And then Netscape went away and everything calmed down. When Opera and Firefox came along we were a lot more grown up about the whole subject.

Truth is, so long as you empty your temporary files regularly your browser is going to be fast. And if it’s slow, you probably need to buy more memory. That said I’ll leave the browser manufacturers to slog it out with each other, they’ve got their reasons which are of no interest to me.

But if you demanded an answer and said, “whatever, so which browser is ‘really’ the fastest?” I’d totally guess (…I’m being honest) and say Opera. I’ve played with it and the best thing about it is is that when you press Back it goes back straight away. No weirdy waiting state like Explorer.

I know nothing about Firefox and my experience of Safari was very short lived, not that I am making a comment about it. I wasn’t inspired but I’m sure Mac lovers love it.

HAve your heard of sea monkey??….I tottaly disagree sum browsers are faster….opera is kewl 2

    OPERA IS THE BEST BROWSER
FOR TRANSFERS IT HAS VERY GOOD INBUILT FEATURES,
BUT LET ME TELL YOU ONE THING FOR A
NORMAL SINGLE WINDOW BROWSING INTERNET EXPLORER’S OLD VERSION COMPATIBLE WITH XP/98
IS BEST BECAUSE WHATEVER HAPPENS IT OPENS THE PAGE IRRESPECTIVE OF INTERNET SPEED REQUIRED OR
INTERNET TRAFFIK ,CONGESTION.WHEN I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEED THAT IS WHEN I USED A LOW SPEED DIAL UP CONNECTION I USED OLD VERSION OF IEXPLORER AND IT OPENED THE PAGE WHEN OTHER BROWSERS FAILED TO DO SO OR HANGED.FOR LOW SPEED CONNECTION STILL INTERNET EXPLORER’S OLD VERSION THAT IS SIMPLEST ONE OPENED THE PAGE AND WAS QUITE FAST.MAY BE FOR BROADBAND OR TERRABAND OTHER’S BROWSER’S ARE FAST BUT FOR A SIMPLE LOW SPEED DIAL UP IEXPLORER WORKS

i think that Mozilla Firefox 3.0 is the very fastest Browser in the world.it has Add-ons like fastvideo , rapiddownloader, flashgot etc. it can save many history as a large list.

I personally was in love with firefox when it came out…unfortuanlty I can’t stand it now.

I still use it when i need too because of firebug, cross browser testing, etc, but the memory consumption is unreal. It takes up way to many resources…not sure if they are ever going to fix the memory leak. Plus I think the press has gone to the companies heads. They are trying to hard to get 1 million downloads or whatever, but should be focusing on browser performance issues. Newer isn’t always better in this case.

I’m also very sick of seeing, “another instance of firefox is running…blah blah blah” popup 95% of the time when trying to open firefox again after a clean exit. I’ve since moved on to Opera and haven’t looked back. Opera is crazy fast and my default browser.
