Short Takes On Computer Stuff – June 10, 2007

Microsoft – has entered into a deal with LG Electronics in which Microsoft will allow LG to use embedded devices technology from Linux. Say what? How can Microsoft promise that?

Apple TV – open source folks using Linux have been testing Linux on the Apple TV box. I’m sure Apple is thrilled with that.

UbuntuGutsy Gibbon has reached Alpha 1 and is ready for testing. That was quick.

Microsoft - will be releasing 6 patches on June 12th – Super Tuesday.

Trick – If your hard disk ceases to work, trying turning the drive upside down and try accessing the data. Worth a try.

Apple - rumor has it that Apple has plans to drop the Mac mini. Second rumor is that Apple is planning on going global with its iPhone.

Dell - today is supposed to be the day that Wal-Mart starts to sell Dell computers.

Dell – it looks like this week Dell will continue to sell LCD TV’s. :-)

Google – consumer groups are still saying Google has way to much data. Google claims the data is to keep the search results relevant.
